Need Honey Hole Info

Ha! I have just always wanted to start a thread with that.

Actually, I am looking for some fishing information. A friend and I will be near Alcova at the end of September chasing antelope and after that we hope to spend a couple of days fishing “the mile.” I have read a good bit about it and intend to call Game and Fish and ask some questions but I thought I would reach out here.

I am looking generally for tips/info from folks with experience there and I am specifically wondering about places to camp, areas to avoid for any reason, and mistakes not to make! Also, I fly fish a little, but for panfish or trout in small streams. I don’t have a rod to adequately throw big streamers like I have read are good for big browns in the fall. I’m currently thinking I will just bring a couple of spinning rods and throw a spinner, although I suppose I could use this trip as an excuse to buy a 7 weight rod. Any insight on streamers vs. spinners?

I would love to get lucky on a big brown running the river!

Thanks for any advice. PMs welcome.

If you're from Colorado, you'll feel right at home on the Miracle Mile! Try CD7 Rapalas in various colors in deeper holes.
Does that mean you are shoulder to shoulder with a lot of dudes with beards and man buns up there? I think you are only allowed to fish a river within two hours of Denver if you have a beard and man bun…

I’m bald so does that mean I have to kiester my reefer or hide it behind my ears tucked in a flat brim? Asking for a friend
