I have a Swarovski ATS spotting scope that the 3/8” to 1/4” tripod adapter on a Arca Swiss foot broke off halfway in. Really to shallow for an easy out and I don’t want to mess up the 3/8” threads. Going to send it in to Swarovski if I can’t get it out. Any help ?

A machinist should be able to fix that right up. Stop collar on a drill bit and custom size extractor if standard doesn’t fit correctly. Not sure what Swaro would do to fix the problem.

Yeah I’m going to pack it up tomorrow. Trying to make sure I don’t mess up the threads for sure. Dang hard to tell what’s going on in that small area for sure

Left hand drill bit.

Easy Out, broken bolt extractor. But every mechanic I ever knew called them an easy out. You have to drill a hole into the broken bolt which may be a little tricky but a drill press would help.

The Grabit is basically an easy out, but is a bit different than a standard easy out. The flutes on the bit are extremely sharp and sticky against the metal. The easy outs I have are not.

Talked to Swarovski today. They said if it’s broke off there are ways to get it out, but he said he’s seen people mess the threads up doing it. He recommended sending it in and about a 4 week turnaround. Thanks to all for the help
