Camping near Trinidad?

Anyone know of any camping areas near Trinidad? I know there's not a lot of public land there. The only one I see is at the Trinidad Lake State Park. We're looking just for a place to set up a tent perhaps on someones private property. This is for September. Any tips appreciated.

I believe the bosque del oso WMA offers free camping if you have a valid fishing lic or elk tag

Thanks, I'll look into that!!!!.......... Appreciate the info. however that's probably too far as we are wanting something close to Trinidad.

The Budget Summit Inn has RV spots with hookups. I don't know about tent camping there.
Several years back I stayed there in my RV while day hunting on a nearby ranch.

Not sure what you mean by Fisher? You mean FIsher Peak State Park , as there''s no camping allowed there, onlly day use.
