Cheaper hunting boots for the boy?

Well my boy is growing. For the last 2 season he wore the same bolt size as his sister then his mom. So we went ahead and bought some higher end boots that can be spares etc. but now he is a size 9 mens. Too big for sharing boots and way to small for my size 12. At the current rate none of his shoes last a year as he out grows them.

Any ideas on a less expensive hunting /hiking boot that’s at least water resistant?

Sneak peak at his target buck…

Saw these on s heels… Seem to have good reviews but still $80 for a year?

Went through the same issue last couple years. I went through Sierra Trading post and got HiTech boots for $29.00. He liked them a lot more than the $100 Danner pronghorn boots.

The under armor boot worked well for my son, and reasonably priced. You can find a deal on a good boot for him out there I’m sure.

Watch camo fire. Always some crazy Dale going on.

I do believe there is a Walmart 20 min from your house

As a side note, I have a pair of Asolo hiking boots that are really good uninsulated boots. Size 10.5. I normally wear 11s but my Bro gave them to me when he found them on clearance. I have less than 5 miles on them.

Wore them twice and they hurt my feet (too short) both times so gave up. They would fit your son eventually. Prob let them go for $50. PM me if interested. I dont even have them in my possession at the moment. Left them at my Colorado cabin. Wont be there until
September

Buy a size bigger and double up on thick socks for this year and they should fit good for the following year.
Got I alot of hand me downs from 5 older brothers. I worked then and it should work now

He's a 9, meaning he's in men's.

I'm gonna say it.

Cabela's.??

They have a couple lower end, Goretex and Thisulate boots.

Iron ridge are pretty indestructible.

There's another pair my son wore last year that were lighter weight, Goretex, 400gr. He wore the crap out of them.

I've always shook my head at the dad's wearing Crispi, Kenetrek, Etc, while Jr is wearing chitty Walmart boots, soaking wet and freezing.

I bought my boys good gaiters, that helps make up for lesser boots, and they are used for years.

Hey Hossy!

Quit Being A Tight-Ass & Buy Them Boys Some Kenetreks!:D

My fad always bought mine and my brothers from big 5. I’d start there
Yes I would agree to taking a look at big five. You don’t need to pay a lot for a pair of boots that you will only wear for one year anyway. Some good selections at big five.

We were at Sportsman's trying on boots, my youngest who is 11 and wears a freaking 10, grabs a pair of Kenetreks off the display. My wife said they looked a little tall but we do hunt in snow.

After seeing the price, she decided he could wear flip flops?

Funny thing is about that story.

I told my boys that to start hunting seasons when they were turning 12 I'd buy them a new shotgun. So we just happened to wander over by the gun counter, where there just happened to be a wetland camo Win SXP 12 ga on sale(it's almost as if I knew that after seeing it the night before).

So no new Kenetreks.

But a new shotgun?

Nicely done

I bet there are hundreds of guys in your shoes. Buy expensive. Use the few times in the field, post on MM for sale.

I’m in this exact situation right now. My son turned 12 today and has a size 8 foot but isn’t super thick or tall so adult waders or boots kinda don’t work so great

Lookee right here. Meindl, size 8

I gave up and started buying cheap Walmart supposed water proof hiking or work boots. It’s a gamble, but we’ve been lucky a few times and the boys feet outgrew before the boots fell apart. Figured at $29 they’re practically disposable boots for a season, worst case. Worked better than expected. Youngest boy ended up at size 14 before he finally slowed growth. Damned flippers he’s got.

Do you guys find that most boots fit correctly when ordered online? Or do you end up sending back if they dont fit just right? I always have a hard time buying boots without trying them on first and doing a couple laps around the store...LOL...and even then they could still suck once you get to your favorite mountain...

I wear a 9.5 and have a good number of boots laying around that I don’t wear anymore. Majority of them are higher end boots but I’d be willing to let them go for a really fair price to help the kid out.
