1st Bull Elk Tag - Nevada Muzzleloader

After 13 years I finally drew my first residential elk tag in Nevada for the muzzleloader season. The season is 10/5 - 10/21 in area 078, 105-107, and 109.

I am wondering how the elk will behave this time of year, can I expect to be able to call them in? Will the bulls be with the cows or separated?

I was going to mainly focus on area 078 and 105. I’ll have 4 days before season to scout. Is there any areas that wouldn’t be worth my time to check out? Any areas that I definitely should look at?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would still look for cows and should still have some rut the first part of Oct. Especially in areas where big bulls haven't ben chased around as much. Good luck.

Thanks! I’m hoping there’s some rut action the first week. Then I’m guess I will just need to do spot and stalk.

Yes bulls should still be in rut may only get them to answer back not come in for a fight. Have a great time it’s very thick focus on water near by in 105.

Would you recommend focusing on 105 instead of 078?
