Hey guys. Hate asking but Have hunted hard up in 111 all weekend , maybe it's the heat , but have seen almost no elk .. no mature bulls ,hunted mostly in , Morgan creek habitat area. Just wondered as I'll prob never draw this bull tag again if there was any past tag holders that would be willing to maybe share some areas they found the bulls in . Would gladly exchange info on deer or antelope in areas I've hunted in wy .

Heat heat for sure! plenty of elk, put some miles on Your boots. Gonna be a while for cooler weather.
What I figured , saw one heard of 35 cows with 1 little bull , been trying to draw this tag for years finally did just couldn't believe didn't see more I figured the heat just has them. Completely shut down in daylight hours pretty much

Are you hunting with a buddy? If so, you might try driving the timber patches. 30 years ago, this was a very effective approach. Hunter positions best spot around patch, while another drives the timber from opposite end through it.

I was in a different unit the last few days. It was 90+ degrees each day. I saw elk at first light until around 8 and they started getting up around 5 to 6 each evening. No movement of elk during the day. The more you move around during daylight the more elk you’ll likely spook so there is a trade off between searching and blowing them out of the country. Most bulls I saw were still alone or in bull groups. There were a few bulls bugling but pretty quiet. I saw one bull smelling cows and getting turned down.

It looks like the same hot and dry conditions the next 5ish days. I’d look for the greenest areas right now with water and you’ll likely find elk. If you find cows and don’t spook them the bulls will show up soon! You also should be finding fresh sign or move on.

If you saw a heard of 31 cows, I would keep tabs on them and hunt that area. Sooner than later the heard bulls will start taking over those cows.

Yep, 30 cows is the best bait you could have . Just stay down wind, and babysit/pattern them from a long distance till the boys show up.

Wanted to thank everyone for the tips and advice , got higher and deeper up into the Morgan creek habitat area and Arrowed this great bull sat evening !

Very nice bull and congratulations.

I hunted a different unit last year but 111 was my second choice. Second guessing now :)

Great bull and like how you took the pic off your pack. Nothing like DIY until you have to pack it out yourself. Congrats!
