Stay Dry Bow Hunters------->

With the opener of bow elk & deer today, it's kinda still wet from those vicious downpours yesterday and thru the night.

I spent the week of the 08--08 up above Da Gorge/Manilla scouting/hiking and all the bulls I saw still had solid velvet.

Plenty of water and lush.

I'm going more local for this AM and just day hunting.

I've got my OTC Cougar tag but no 10mm.

Pick-a-$pot---------->

Robb, good luck

You done talked me into spending $30 on a s&s cougar tag for my muzz deer hunt & scouting. I was surprised it's $30 for nonresidents too.

The way I read it, you can carry a concealed handgun in UT in a archery or muzzleloader deer/elk season if you have a honored permit but can't hunt anything, even a cougar, with the concealed handgun in your archery or muzzleloader season. Self defense only.

EF, it wouldn't surprise me at all if ya saw a 'Kitty" down on your Henries buck hunt.

I'm jealous!

Robb

PS. I've had a few cash-n-carry offers for my Avatar Tent, mostly Inclusive offers.......haha

Tried sneaking up quietly on a bugling Raggy yesterday morning.

A doe busted me and oh well---->

They are starting to get a little vocal here around Huntsville

Hoping for the moose to start rutting here in the next couple weeks!!! ?

I've seen a couple decent bull moose in Wyo 26 & 23 this summer.

I haven't spent any time other than just driving through 27.

Sorry,

Robb

Fun morning yesterday chasin' bow elk.

I think I've got 2 herds forming from the tracks and distance between them and 2 bulls kinda bugling in the early AM.

It can only get better------->

PS. Sshhhhhh Russ ! haha

With the Youth Rifle hunt going into the last week of the bow Any Bull hunt dates, Anyone going to wear Blaze Orange?

I'm packing up a vest and hat just incase--------->

North Slope out of Manilla mainly.

Robb

The guidebook has an exception for archery hunters to not wear orange during this hunt.

From the Guidebook, "New this year: Hunter orange is not required during the general-season any bull archery hunt that overlaps with the general season any bull youth hunt. Youth are still required to wear hunter orange during their hunt."

Not sure she said she looked up with me on the phone and said it was required. But either way I will be head to toe. Just cuz I don't like to be shot at

Here is my compromise for going in and coming out.

I'll have a Blaze hat in my pack too

I'm out of here today thru the closing 21st, Viva Da Gorge area!

I'm home and had a real fun time.

The Youth Rifle hunter-Jenny got herself a nice lil 4 x 5 on the 3rd morning.

I have the Multi Season Tag so I wasn't to be worried about getting 1 with my bow if she could get a shot.

I'll do a few pix and follow up his wknd.

Dave isn't overwhelmed with having his daughters' pix on some website! I'll see if he minds after they get home, and I toss him a link.

I averaged 14.7 for the whole trip, fighting south winds going and fighting thunderstorm big winds coming home.

Those thunderstorm wind sure push a lil 5 x 8 trlr around!

I got to camp cabin and got ready for the morning hunt.

I like to leave in the dark and get to my 'spot' as the horizon gets brighter.

a trail for a ways with the headlamp on and then off the trail and bushwack thru the timber.

Up in these cliffs gives me a great glassing spot and hearing for any early morning bugles.

Dave & Jenny had another area to go for this morning.

There were so many trucks and horse trlr's at most every trailhead, I started going lower and just pulling over, parking and bushwacking into no trail areas from past experience.

Definitely more of a spot-n-stalk option thru the ponderosa pines and some quakes.

Not many bugles and hardly any rifle shots from any of the Youth Rifle hunters heard while I was there.

After having Covid in Feb/2020 and again this year (I'm thankful I have all 4 shots as it wasn't that bad the 2nd time) in Mid-August, it sure takes its toll on the ole deep breathing lungs on the mountain, but I plug along and have a lot of fun non-the-less.
