Elk near Green wood village?

My son is on a business trip in Greenwood village near Denver tech center. He has some free time tomorrow and wants to do a hike with a good chance of seeing rutting elk. Anyone know of a decent spot near there to see elk not to hunt just view?
 
That’s a tall order. DTC is right in the middle of the Metro, and a decent drive to the mountains. When I moved to Denver, I was disappointed at how inconvenient it was to get away.

Rocky Mountain National park is awesome, but it’s 2 hour drive from DTC.
 
He might be able to see a couple of decent muleys over on the Rocky Mtn Arsenal. Don’t know how much they let you see since they opened it up as a wildlife refuge.

We saw some gnarly bucks in there. We just assumed it was the nerve gas. I would have loved to have been the first guy to fish those ponds over there.

Its closer than the airport to the tech center.

It’s not far but if he goes south down by the cabelas off I-25, there is a resident herd that hangs out in that area, I got a co worker who married rich and tells me the bulls are going nuts in his neighborhood down there right now
 
yes, the area south of lonetree Cabelas. There is a new reservoir east off of castle pines parkway. I have often seen them in there to happy canyon. It is the Daniel's park herd
