Would you target a buck you HAD to still-hunt?

to answer your question still hunting is defiantly my favorite but i’ll be the first to admit the success/failure ratio is on the failure side for me atm. wind rules them all. the windiest days are my favorite.

but i hunt areas that’s are thicker drainages and your just using your binos looking for horns, legs or tails no more then 100 yards in front of you. it’s pretty fun to be damn close but not close enough watching the deer do their deer thing so close. sometimes spending a few hours to get a few yards, excruciating. got close but hit close enough again this evening!

congrats on your beastly deer and i tip the hat to your dedication. they say that it must be west of I-5 to be a black tail but i think you need to be well over the coastal range crest to be sure.

I did not. Glassed him at first light and shot him from that same spot. I thought I'd be able to see up into where he was living from this little knob, even though I'd never been there before. Hiked in this morning in the dark and the vantage was legit and he was out.
Sounds like you figured him out them congrats. That's mule deer hunting

Congratulations! It is nice when it works out. It seems like the guys that put in the work, tend to have things work out for them more often.

Sorry for the delay. No service while I’ve been been out hunting more Muleys ??
