Gas tank install.

I bought a used 100 gallon aluminum gas tank. I came with a NIB pump, hose and meter.

So, power washed it, dropped some dawn in it, rinsed it a couple times, dropped some vinegar in it, rinsed it some more and let it dry.

Mounting....I put a fuel resistant 3/8" rubber mat under it (bed has rubber liner coating).

Is there anything else I should do to ease the vibration stress?

Diesel. If you were a competent troll, you would know I dont own a gasoline powered truck.

I can’t speak to the vibration or stress you’re thinking about, but I would imagine the mat you put down would work out. Just keep an eye on it as you go.

The only time I cleaned out a gas tank, it was on an old Mustang and we used marbles and hand cleaner. The hand cleaner was what you would buy at Checker (o’Riley) that is pumice free and we gave it a good shaking and rinsed it out with whatever oil based thinner or solvent we had, I don’t really remember. It may have been 100LL from the plane as we used that stuff for a lot of things.

shaking a 100 gallon tank takes ALOT of effort.....
Not if you put a bag of shot in it.

Lead will leave a nice shiny surface with some lead residue on the surface. I’ve washed a couple of tons of shot in mixers.

Maybe the residue left over will make the gas Premium?

....so does dawn and air.....
MOTO; Vinegar can also be used to slightly acid etch aluminum prior to paint or sealer application. No alumiprep available, so I used vinegar. Its a little tough to use dawn, or air, as a paint prep solution.

Vinegar also works great to remove mill scale from iron. Have a large trough to soak pieces over night. Scale will just brush and rinse off. Great non-toxic chemical. Sure beats the acids I used years ago.

Under all 4 corners, maybe one in the middle, and you should be good. ?
