We all knew it was coming when they started introducing elk to eastern states. They would get huge!! More biologic feed, water and cover. The only thing they will never have, is a true western elk hunting experience. Those elk are more docile than a Yellowstone buffalo. You can dang near pet them and feed them out of your hand. They will be your best friend if you have an apple tree in your yard.

That VA bull is sure a stud. Especially the lower end. WOW.
The guy that had the original pics of the PA bull was quite sure that there is one that is bigger. I assume he meant a typical, which seems incredible.
Seems like it is kind of a slippery slope to say anything about what a true western hunting experience is any more. What is that exactly? Is it DIY in the wilderness on an OTC tag? Is it private land with a 20 person posse over a water hole with a tag that take 25 years to draw or 200K to buy?
I can agree that there is a difference in the hunts. The fact is that those guys got lucky and drew a tag and unless otherwise known, hunted and killed a wild bull the size of which has rarely been seen. The same thing happens every year in most western states.

Good on states like Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, Michigan and other eastern states. It's pretty incredible to see the elk restored to other areas they originally thrived in. Keep up the good work! I'm sure hunting Eastern terrain is a different experience, especially with limited public land. The more people that get to experience the joy of elk hunting or viewing the better, at least in my opinion.

There was five draw tags plus one Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation raffle tag.

The Virginia Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Facebook says that bull scored 410. I don't know if that is gross or net.

410? Looks bigger than that to me.

I'd wonder if anyone who badmouths these eastern hunts for elk would even put in for it because it isn't a "true" hunt? That would be interesting. Wonder if they don't put in because it's not rugged enough of a hunt for them. I'd be ecstatic to have a shot at a 400+ bull regardless what state it is in.

Looks like all the Western highs rollers will be flocking to the East next year….Wonder if Mossy Green Backs has a place out there yet??Could be the next Antelope Island gig for him…

Woah! Couple of super studly bulls. Figured the east would over take the west with antler size, so will all the easterns and midwesterns go hunt there and let us chase our tiny little dink bulls in peace? I didn’t know the kid from the Mad Magazine cover hunted. Good for him

Math & reading comprehension are tough. Keep with it and you'll figure it out some day.
I didnt do math I asked what are the biggest Elk ever shot. Is there something wrong with that ? Just so people could see. Didn't say largest 6 pint or do you have a comprehension problem ?

Uhhh are ya having a 6th sense moment there? Do you see the ghosts of posts you thought about making but never did?

How many people kill a 400 bull on a draw tag. Even on the best units. It isn’t many congrats on both of those bulls out East. I’m sure it’s different then out west. What a bad A55 reintroduction effort. The more elk on the landscape the better.

They Can Be Measured either way sometimes!

The OM's Can Be Real ASSSSHOLES!

Alot Of Guys Take Their 200"+ Mulies & 400"+ Bulls in to OM's & They Leave Hating The OM's!

It's Kinda Like alot of the MM 200" Bucks Here On MM!
tell me about it......

No, that is not the biggest 6 point of all time. Wait until it's officially scored and its going to be smaller than 435" as a typical. Will net 410ish if those numbers are correct.

Those are a couple of nice bulls wherever they are from!

As someone who lives and hunts public land in East TN, it's plenty steep and tough hunting. No wolves and grizzlys, but some nice rattlers, and an occasional boar that doesn't like anything invading his turf. And although not known for attacking people, quite a few black bears.

I can't speak for the bulls taken, but the ones I've come across in TN don't stick around to be petted. I've posted pics on here of bulls, but rarely see them while hunting. If you go over to the elk viewing tower, it might be different, but you can't hunt them there. Hence they become tame.

A lot of wild animals can become tame - deer, elk (ever been to Breckinridge or Estes Park?) squirrels, raccoons, the list goes on. Humans don't harm them, and they become accustomed to and tolerate them.

I apply for the TN elk tags, and one year might be lucky enough to draw.

Every hunt is an experience. Enjoy them all!
