Probably planning to put in with one or two other people with low points..??Someone has 23 antelope points? ?
I hope they’d share.Probably planning to put in with one or two other people with low points..??
This right there is exactly why we need a new Elk plan.
Thanks jake.
You're also going to to be WAY too F'N old to kill a bull if you don't burn those points soon my guy!!You Gonna Hunt Them Harder Than We Already Do?

20 deer points is a choice. Lots of options and great hunts available for 20 pointsI have 20 deer points and 21 moose points.... Pretty sure my odds to draw get worse every year.

Why would you be throwing your points away?I Don't Know About Anybody-else But I'm Not Throwing My Points Out The Window & Starting Over!
You better be at the Board meeting tomorrow to express your concerns.I Told Everybody The Point System Wouldn't Work!
Ugh. that's depressing. I'm assuming that's R and NR combined? I can't imagine residents buiding that many however. I've got 25 elk points going into 2023. With the coming elk changes, I'm likely to try for archery this time.limited entry deer,Points purchased 2022,and draw points

I think that all the time. More than half my life I've sat around watching the DWR keep f'n around with these stupid management ideas. Always a half measure, never having the balls to fully address and fix an issue for fear of public outcry.29 GAWD-DAMNED Years is a Perty Good Chunk of One's Life!
Lots of great hunts to be had for 25 points.Ugh. that's depressing. I'm assuming that's R and NR combined? I can't imagine residents buiding that many however. I've got 25 elk points going into 2023. With the coming elk changes, I'm likely to try for archery this time.
I didn’t even use my moose tag this year ??very sad! That means I have 44 more years before I’m lucky enough to draw a moose tag.
Need to give a better percentage to max point holders. The 50/50 split is cool but it’s causing point creep. (I have 0 resident bonus points btw) drew an elk tag with 18 points and last year got an antelope tag with 0. Which is nice but the people with 5-8 points should have got that tag and moved them out of the system. Makes drawing a tag a little more predictable and brings the overall wait time down. 75/25 would be my thought, but I'm not cool enough to be on a committee of any sort so it doesn’t matter.Points systems work just fine as long as you allot tags for them. Utah has so many hunts in every unit that often there's zero tags for the high point holders. 15 seasons in a unit with 1 NR tag per hunt is stupid.
I disagree, if they make any changes at all it should be to go the other way, and to stop giving points. Cap everybody at where they are right now. Keep it 50/50 for a set number of years, then reduce it to 25/75 until all points are gone.Need to give a better percentage to max point holders. The 50/50 split is cool but it’s causing point creep. Hard to tell people with 30 points that they are getting phased out. I agree though the point system is a problem. I think small changes here and there could help improve I just don’t know if it’s too late.I disagree, if they make any changes at all it should be to go the other way, and to stop giving points. You will never get away from point creep as long as you are giving people more points. Look at Colorado they give 100% to max points and point creep is as big as ever.
So either leave it alone as it really is the best point system, or stop giving points.
Funny. I hunt in Canada and Mexico for a reason. At the top for deer points. If they close the puans or Henry’s again I will apply.
Starting in 2023 you will be able to know the tag numbers before putting in. FYII have 27 deer and 26 bison points. For deer, looks like 7 nonresidents ahead of me and 11 with me, counting points only purchases. Think I'll stay Henrys or bust. I wish they would offer a nonresident muzzleloader max points tag. I drew elk on year 2 and switched from sheep to bison the fourth year because it looked like I would draw sooner with the older tag numbers. There are not many max points tags for bison, need to guess the right unit before tag numbers are released. I don't think there has ever been a nonresident sheep preference tag yet, points are almost useless for sheep.
NR bonus applications puts us all in "no man's land". Might as well buy lotto tickets!I'm in no man's land with 23 deer and sheep points.
History repeating itself. I still remember the first year the former reopened. Nothing has compared to it.So?
We're Gonna Manage Deer So Poorly We'll Have To Close It Again?
If It Keeps Going There Won't Be a Choice!
They'll Close Their-selves!
SAD!
