Wondering if there are any MM'ers that are currently hunting or have friends that are hunting the late rifle season. Would like to chat with anyone that is or was just currently out on the Delores. PM me if there is and you are willing to talk with me.

I hunted it late out there and had a great time. I killed a 30+" outside spread 4 point that I'm proud of to this day.

However, this has been so many years ago (approx 40) that it's hardly relevant and I'd have no idea if the population of good buck coming into that country from Colorado is still robust.

Feel free to text or call me if you want to chat, although most likely I don't have up-to-date info that you're looking for.

Thanks guys. I know 2 1/2 weeks ago there was a lot of bucks in the unit, just no huge ones. Coyoteslayer, you are the second person that said the deer left 40 early and headed to the Delores. Sounds good for numbers and should be a fun hunt. Not sure about quality and I have to wait for the 11 rifle tag holders to pick through them before we head out with the muzzy.

Thanks for the replies.

It would be great to hear how you do. I would have traded the rifle Colorado tag for an archery Dolores tag in a heart beat. I had a solid buck at 20 yards that would have been tough to pass, by far bigger than anything I saw in Colorado.

let us know how you do on that unit.
I have never been down on that unit but have herd a lot of good deer are there if the weather cooperates.

Check Your PM rman!

Check it again!

Fun hunt for seeing 20 plus 4 pointers a day. Just a lot of weak forks on them. Lots of 3x4's and a lot of 22-24 inch nice bucks. Son killed a 30 1/2 inch buck in Colorado on 2nd season and was looking for a 180 4x4 with deep forks or something non typical. Driving in we seen a 3x3 we know we should have shot, but he just killed on a few weeks ago and we hadn't even set up camp yet. It was give or take 38 inches wide (regrette it 2 minutes later after driving off and never seen him again). ?

Seen maybe one other really good buck for just a few seconds and had photos of his buck that another hunter had seen and tried for a couple times. It is really tall and a non typical and will go well with his other typical 4x4's and his 30 1/2 inch 3x3 (photo included). It typed out at 181 5/8 ever with week fronts/main beams.

Fun hunt. Great time spent with son on mountain and great memories made.

Thanks to all that reached out or gave advice.

Great bucks! Both of them awesome, congratulations to your son. So if I’m understanding it correctly be shot the 4x5 in Colorado and the big 3x3 in Utah Delores triangle unit ?

3X3 in Colorado on 2nd season.

4X5 on Deloris Triangle.

We did see a 38 inch 3X3 on Deloris on our way in before we even set up camp that we should have taken, but we let go. Hard taking a buck on way in for a 7-8 days hunt when you just killed a great 3X3 a week earlier and was hoping for a deep forked 4X4 or a non typical.

I know - Don't let one go that you would shoot on last day!!!

Nice deer, but you guys are killing me….”Dolores”. River of sorrow. I wouldnt care, but I look out my window at the Dolores River canyon.

Dolores roughly translates to pain or suffering in Spanish.

Again, nice deer and my apologies for the lecture.
