I am getting old and the zone I want in Colorado I need to use a muzzleloader (in 2 years so have time to practice). I have done a lot of searching and still don't know what muzzleloader to get. I am thinking $600+- and am hoping you get your thoughts. I know this has been asked a lot but would appreciate your input

T/C stainless pro hunter, they are a little more than $600 but can switch the barrels to all sorts of calibers. The fiber optic that comes on the front is a bit big past 100 yards however. Open sights only in CO of course.

If u want one gun and don't need to switch... cva accura is what I chose in 2017. Get blackhorn breechplug, change sights to peep in rear and globe on front. Start looking for Blackhorn 209 now! Optima would probably be a fine choice for about $100 less.

I would stay away from the newer Optima X and LR guns. They have had accuracy issues. Stick with the regular Optima V2

I agree but they don’t make the regular Accura V2 any more. They have an X or LR after the name. Too many negative reviews. If you could find a regular accura V2 used, would prob be a good gun

I emailed CVA and asked them what kind of accuracy you could expect from the LR (long range) model. The answer: 2 & 1/2” at 100 yards. He said have to buy a paramount if you want 1.5”. I told him the need to rename the LR….

I was thinking about buying one for my grandson and this was the actual email I got in response to how accurate is the Acura V2 LR:

David,

There is no accuracy guarantee just the 14 day satisfaction guarantee but an accura typically does 2.5-3" at 100 yards, the paramount 1.5-2" at 100 yards.

I have a 7 or 8 year old Accura V2 that will shoot sub moa at 100 open sights, and an older optima I sold that would do the same, I had heard that CVA QC went down recently

Nothing specific, but definitely go SS and capable of shooting the shotgun primers. Although I think about all of today's new ones shoot shotgun primers.

I shoot a 20-ish year-old Knight. Absolutely love it. I think the model is LK93, converted to shotgun primers.

Good luck.
