That first little 4 point is within 100 yards of where I parked the truck a week before to hunt the sage draw behind him
 
I’m always amazed at how monster bucks can disappear into thin air once they shed their velvet and show back up once the season is over. They can be ghosts even in open sagebrush country.
The G&F plans it that way by the season dates
 
Unfortunately here in Colo the CWD's plan of harvesting older age class bucks by hunting them with rifle during prime rut rifle season dates will impact the status of older age class bucks on public land in Western Colo. Hopefully they change this in the next 5 year plan.
