Here is highflastfyer's buddy. I dont know this Randy guy but i did call him cause i was looking for a gunsmith to do a project for me. Randy never called or responded to the emails, so if chooses to run a business that way then he doesnt need my support.

I have to disagree with him on the outfitters searching every drainage. Now i can only speak for this part of the state. They know how to kill some good rams. I never ran into them while scouting and they also harvest some really good rams and letting the 4-6 year old rams walk off.

Not sure what input you are looking for. He vastly exaggerates many things but discusses some real issues. Imo, letters like that aren't going to change anything because of the way he comes off.

I agree with his thoughts on the TF. The TF simply gives the Commission and Legislature cover. Too easy for both groups to just say "I'll just go with the TF recommendation". The legislature and Commissions job is to hear ideas and vote yes or no. Not sure why they need a TF to tell them what ideas should be listened to and how to vote.

Personally, think the Outfitter bashing gets a little old. Yes they have an impact. They have not made my time in the field more or less enjoyable either way. No more so than a DIY hunter for sure.

I have a tough time criticising someone who see the TF for what it is. It seems he exaggerates some things, but another member on here from that area would probably agree with most of his thoughts on the deer situation.

Goods for him that he is making his thoughts known. There isn't enough of that, IMO, outside of social media.

Michael, I wouldn't do business with him either, since he left you hanging.

The input (mandatory) he is probably referring to in Ak is you have to complete harvest surveys before you can apply for tags the following year. I agree that if that was mandatory we would have a better idea of how many critters are being harvested.

He has the Task Force labelled right and makes a good point that if the legislature and commission did the job, there would not be a need for the Task Force...

There is a lot negative to be said about outfitters, but working hard and covering land and scouting is not one of the issues I have... If they are out there finding target bucks then good for them... On the flip side I really hate the idea of selling information on any animals (I have been offered finders fees on some elk I have found from outfitters). I have no interest in that at all, and would never sell out any animal...

I agree with the need for predator control, I agree with the idea of mandatory reporting.

I cant speak to the units mentioned as I do not know them, but I do know other units and the biggest factor always affecting the herd numbers and quality is hunting... It is also the one area where the game and fish has the most leverage...
