Must be a political supporter, or has some agenda. 8.7% Social Security raise and he says retirees must be doing well with this raise. Oh yeah it made all the difference. ?

Anybody interested in a co-op with couple of herford milk cows and a dozen laying hens.

I got pasture. Small milking machines are not that expensive anymore nor are crème separators.

Owners can still drink there own milk here.

Our utility company sent us an email letting us know they're paying 18% more for natural gas and it will be passed on to us. Poof! There goes our SS raise. Well at least the stock market is going in the tank to make up for it.

Put more water in the beans, Ma.

BTW... Price of water is going up to.

Most CEO’s have personal opinions. Once you make it to the board room you check em at the door and pledge devotion to the enterprise and it’s shareholders.

Sometimes they align.

A group of people in our small community purchased an acre of land- they are starting a large garden, and raising chickens. So far seems to be working well. We all pitch in labor as we can and share costs to keep it running.

They got the idea from a neighboring community. I think this is happening probably more than we know.

Our small town doctor is considering something similar.

IMO, we have strayed too far away from being self sufficient communities so I am in full support.

It won’t last….whoever is doing the most work now will end up doing it all…….till he throws in the towel

True, but it “might” last “longer” if the price of eggs and butter continues to increase. Hunger seems to motivate otherwise less ambitious folks……… People act crazy when they haven’t eaten after a few days……. crazy enough to work.

Homer has a better understanding of human nature than you do.

I think in most situations this would be accurate. I have more hope for this group as we have worked together on volunteer projects for the last 15 years.

Longevity of any human relationship is dependent on lots of different circumstances. Homer’s right, as a general rule, but there are anomalies and circumstances that don’t always reflect general human nature.

Hundreds if not thousands of communal structures fail, mostly sooner but some not until later.

Im just think about a very low input threshold for a very small number of people, producing a very small amount of food. Herding chickens isn’t much of a cost/labor intensive co-op. Milking a cow, on the other hand is extremely labor dependent. They shoot guys for drying up a milk cow around here. ???
