How close is 29 BPs to the max point pool for a resident rifle tag in AZ? 5A and 4A still quality hunts?

What google search do you suppose would tell you that answer? Only thing telling you the answer is the bonus point report couesfanatic posted. And you aren't finding that on a Google search.

53 residents have 29, 27 residents have 30+. So sadly the answer is: several years away from the best units but enough to get you some solid units.

There are a very few that have one more point for each species than should be possible through applying every year since points started plus having the education point. How did they get the extra point? Most confusing, why haven't they actually applied to draw since getting the extra point?

A large wind farm is going up in 4A. The Ohaco ranch is closed during construction through 2023.

Just something to consider.

I can’t believe there’s only one non-Res with max Deer points. Two years ago there where 88.

Someone got an extra point added. 26 is maximum deer points possible by applying every year plus hunter education and loyalty. There are 1-3 applicants with more than should be possible by just applying for every species. I'm guessing they must have done unnatural acts or been good at hacking the department computer? Or maybe got a point for turning in a poacher?

Pretty sure bonus points started for deer at the same time they did for Antelope and Elk (1991) so there could have been a maximum of 33 so 27 bonus points for deer isn't out of the question. Nothing unnatural going on.

If I remember correctly, they started deer bonus points a year or two after elk & antelope.

They started deer points in 1999. That's 24 years + 1 education + 1 loyalty = 26 total deer points after the 2022 draw without getting an unnatural point. One person has 27 points. 83 have 26 points (I am one) and 99 have 25 points without the hunter education.coming out of the 2022 draw.

My boy, I've forgotten more about the draw system than you will ever know. However, the average person has a hard time finding these reports on a yearly basis. As we can see by posts every year asking about how to find them.
