Be careful with that invitation-you might get what you ask for with all the YouTube and Instagram warriors just looking for a place to film and post their next Easter egg hunt ?

I think they might have a tough time. A lot of the winter range is not very obvious, takes some experience to know where the bucks will likely be hanging out. And the grass can make it tough to spot sheds. No sagebrush flats, just steep grassy hills and brush (at least in my backyard unit).

We like to “scout” for big bucks in January and February and then try to match up their sheds when they drop. They tend to hang out in a pretty small core area this time of year.

Wife saw a great buck yesterday still holding. Heavy and tall 4x4 and hoping to find his horns this year.

Winter kill in the traditional sense is not really an issue for our herds. Winter rain brings green up and forbs. Lots of good leader growth on the shrubs. Deer are in great shape. Should be a good few years in CA with the moisture we’re getting.

Great post; thanks. I love the big smile and the T-shirt picture. The way our Wyoming weather is and has been, it makes me really want to get out and do more stuff outside. Maybe next week..............
