So after e-scouting and some research, 53 has made the short list for a possible early archery mule deer hunt for me. I live in NC and plan on a scouting trip with my boys wherever I draw. I have some general questions about access, deer density, hunting pressure, weather, etc. for someone who’s hunted the high country of 53 in the recent past. I’d prefer to keep the conversations for the most part in PMs or texts. Thanks in advance.
 
I have spent alot of time in 53 and I'm not impressed by deer numbers. Last year I spent 8 days there and saw 5 deer total and only one buck. The country is very rugged and archery elk and rifle bear hunters were abundant. Wish I had better news for ya.
