Wife and I were west of Craig, Co when we drove upon a doe eating a road killed doe today. The cannibal raised her head showing a blood stained face. Never seen anything like it before.

I’ve seen them munch on dead prairie dogs. Not like jerky, more like a pop sickle. Looked like a salt/mineral thing.

Eating flesh to survive is way worse.

She was probably hit moments later so I wouldn't worry about it. Sad deal for sure as she was probably starving! Poor deer all over the west after this winter!!! But let's fight about who should get tags to shoot whatever bucks are left this Fall................

Whitetails will eat the stomach contents from gut piles in the late seasons when there’s lots of snow. The dead deer gathered all the food and the other deer just take it for an easy meal.

Otherwise I have seen deer lick blood before. I would think she was either getting ABC food or cleaning up the blood she could get. Blood would be like a mineral
