Granola Gobblers ?

I got to thinking about when was the last time I changed oil in my Tacoma. It's the only vehicle we own. I checked the records and it was back in August. Since August 2022 I've driven less than 1900 miles.

I only put 1400 on my Silverado in 2022.

Do you still change the oil even with the low miles? Or do you wait to reach the desired oil change mileage even if it takes here years.

I change it about every 4 months regardless of milage (if I remember to do it :) ). I bought it new in May of 2003 and I've changed oil 54 times since then. 119,000 miles. I do it myself. Getting to the oil filter is the hard part. I cuss Toyota every time. It's the 2.7 liter 4 cylinder.

My vehicles have synthetic oil in them. Supposed to change 10,000 miles or one year. Since my wife and I are both retired we don’t get 10,000 miles on any of them in a year. I’m not very diligent about getting the oil changed at the one year interval since the mileage is still low.

Before I retired I drove 30,000 miles every year for almost 40 years. Most of that was commuting so that wasn’t the employers time It was on my time. Sometimes it was my vehicle, sometimes a company vehicle. The last few years it was my vehicle with an $800 per month payment from the company.

Working in the coal industry in a rural area long commuting distances are just normal. The old days of the coal town at the mine mouth have been gone for half a century.

It’s almost amazing what you see on the road. Some of these cars you see goin up and down valley are real sweet hearts. It’s almost amazing there aren’t more wrecks and closures than there are. But that’s the nature of the area. It could always be worse I suppose.

I’m gunna drive the wheels off my Subaru just as soon as the goobermint comes and digs me out. Cabin fever is turning me into an angry white man, but for now the lazy is still in control.:(
It has been so cold and so much snow here. I'm thinking of going Steelhead fishing and I haven't done that only twice since I left Washington 18 years ago.
Bring on some Sun Mother Nature !!!
