Took my son to hit up the San Juan last Tuesday. Was pretty slow but he managed to land his biggest fish ever on a fly rod. 18.5” Brownie. The smile says it all. Caught on a size 18 Maroon Analid.

When I was kid, I lived down the river in Bloomfield. We used to go on deer drives in those tree islands in the background. I was in 7th & 8th grade (1976-77) and this man from Arkansas would take his kids and anyone else who wanted to tag along on a good old fashion deer drive. The man and his oldest son would set up with bow & arrow, at end of those tree islands and us younger whipper snappers would walk through all that crap and push deer their way. Sorry, to change subject but looking at the picture of your son and the background reminded me of a time gone bye. Nice fish.

How successful were those deer drives? That would be interesting to see.
