If Them Problem Elk Woulda Been In The Basin Where 3 Million Greenies Couldn't See What Happens In Real Life They'd All Have Bullets In Them long ago!

20 Guys HERDING The Elk!

Which clip am I supposed to watch?

The funniest part about this to me? When the elk were right on the highway getting hit and killed daily, there was no problem and we are not herding them back up the mountains. They move over to the country club, and darn it…it’s time to move those elk back to where they’ll be safe! :ROFLMAO:

Sorry Niller!

I'm SLACKIN!

Pay Close Attention Right Around 1:50!

Sounds like the operation went well today. And just like the folks bessy referred me to: if not the DWR, then who?

SFW?!? Ha!

So the relocation was a half success....at least for a few more days?

Define "success." I'm not sure anyone (including people that commented on this thread above before it even happened) believed the elk would stay away forever. We got another storm again this week that added multiple feet of snow to where they were pushed back to...so it shouldn't be a shock that they started coming back down again.

At least it's not a shock for me. I'm guessing the DWR would say the same thing.

Our government at our finest...spending money on sh!t that doesn't make sense.

I bet it makes sense to the country club! (I'm just guessing they don't like dozens of elk hanging out full time on the course...)

Only the DWR had faith this stunt was going to work.
Once they found something to eat it will virtually impossible to keep them away!

Again, what are you assuming they thought would happen?

I see a situation where a large herd of elk took residence on a country club golf course due to deep mountain snow, and as soon as the snow melted off the DWR worked to get them off the golf course and back into the hills. And they did exactly that.

Are you suggesting they should have left them at the country club indefinitely, surrounded by residential development and high speed highways? Is that really a better idea than herding them back to the mountains?

Like I've Said!

If That Situation Woulda Been Located In The Basin!

They'd of Shot Them!

But With All The Different BREED'S You Got Out On The Wasatch That Kinda Shiitt Ain't Happening!

Only thing that will get them to leave is new growth. Once that starts hopefully they can try again
Kinda what I was thinking. When they pushed the elk back up, there wasn’t much green to be had on the slopes. It doesn’t surprise me at all they came back down.
If we could get a week of 60 degree highs, like we should be already, those hillside would green up quick and the problem should solve itself.

I don’t think a forecast was needed. I mean it’s pretty natural for elk/deer to move downhill to avoid snow. It’s been happening for longer than we have inhabited these areas.

It didn’t/doesn’t take a UDWR biologist to realize that if you push them back into the snow that they will try to seek refuge from it again.

This really boils down to a bunch of rich people that pay dues to a country club wanting to golf cause the weather was nice. And maybe a little bit to do with them trying to collect “damages” from the state.

I know some of it was to reduce car-animal incidents. But they knew the odds were they would be back.

Hey DBG!

I Told Them They'd Be Back!

But Nobody Listened!

Maybe Niller Can Get On Here & Tell Me What A Dumb SOB I Am!
