Turkey hunt

I had a few gobbling this morning. Unfortunately couldn’t get him to commit to my calls. I ended sneaking into 45 yards but couldn’t seal the deal. I’ve had no issues locating birds just calling them into range has been the problem. I’m not a very experienced turkey hunter but it sure is exciting! Good luck hopefully you get into some birds while we wait for results!

Called in two Toms yesterday morning off the roost and my brother put them down. Lots of turkeys gobbling. Didn't see many people.

Just got back from a weekend up in the hills. We got one out of our group. Aren’t really talking yet. A lot of people though. Will be going to a different area either next weekend or the weekend after.

Just hunted Saturday, had one gobbler answer and came to 150 yards, then a hen showed up and he left with her. More people than I've ever seen, had 3 groups of guys walk in on my setup. Decided to come home and go back during the week.

I had a "secret can't-miss spot" in the Aldo Leopold Wilderness where I stumbled on five gobblers at six yards last year while hiking the CDT. They all acted like they'd never seen a human before and hardly even spooked. I marked the spot on my GPS that day, and drove down to the nearest access point on Friday, and got up at 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning to hike the five miles in to the exact spot. I was totally shocked when I got there to find nothing left but an ugly burn scar.

I really never had a chance to pay much attention to the news last year while I was hiking the CDT. I did know there had been a fire down there somewhere, but otherwise I had no idea. That was such a downer. Hope the rest of you have a better experience than I did.

Maybe next week...

This morning I sneezed outside before I left to go shed hunting and about 6 turkeys gobbled across the road. LOL.
There is also a Jillion turkey hunters driving around as well

Took my son on the youth hunt on Good Friday. We got into a group of 31 hens and 4 toms. Had 4 hens almost step on my son at about 4 yards. We thought we were in a great spot as the toms were strutting and we’re gonna pass in front of us but one of the hens got suspicious and kinda moved em out. Son had one shot but it was just a little far.

Hunting up by Cloudcroft.

I'm in North Central NM and had one opening morning hammering, got my decoys setup he was about 200yds out triple gobbling at my calls closing in to about 100yds and outta no where another hunter comes busting in between us and scares the tom out.
So I pack up and head to the top of the ridge and see this guy again, packing a bow in one hand and shotgun in his pack chasing the tom west, last I heard the tom he was 1/2 mile out? Thats my story and I'm sticking to it! ?
Sunday no gobbling going on. Didn't make it out today.
