Wyoming NR Elk Draw

I'm hoping they post at least one day early this year. Out of 3 of us in our family that put in, 2 of us have pulled our apps already due to draw results in AZ and NM (too bad WY is still on such an antiquated submission date to satisfy the guides!!!).
My oldest son is the only one still in with max points for one of the late migration hunts.

Would be nice to know if he is lucky before we put in for our elk and sheep draws here in SD which are due on the 18th. (I'm the only person with max points for CSP arch elk - 33, max points for prairie elk - 22, and max points for BH sheep - 23)

Finally talked my dad and my uncle into a cow elk hunt. Hopefully we draw them. Been no problem for years but last year had a buddy not draw. ???

Confident at 5.33 in the general regular draw but sure would like confirmation! Got a lot of wheels turning on my 2023 work/hunt schedule.
I agree, you should draw but it's scary to look at the number of people waiting on the sidelines in Wyoming. It is easy to see how a general tag could jump significantly in points if something happened to scare people out of the points game. The really scary part is the 42,000 people sitting with one point and the vast majority of those are chasing a general tag.

My family went with 3.6 points in regular draw for general tags..decided we couldn’t pay $4k plus for gen tags as a family…we will see!

So, I had 4 points going in for NR general elk and I thought I'd be a shoe in. That is one of my for sure hunts this year and you guys are scaring me. I thought 4 going in would guarantee me a tag. I sure hope I didn't have to go special. Ugh....

I was ready last month LOL.
Me and a buddy are in the special for a gen tag with 4 point average. I can't stomach the thought of trying again next year at 2K each for a general tag.

It was 100% last year but point creep with the general tag has been pretty consistently increasing. With talk of 90/10, my guess is 4 points will be 50/50 or so. My guess doesn't mean much though. Good luck

HELL YEA!!!!!
My oldest son had max points. He put in for 56-1 in the regular draw (late migration hunt) and pulled a tag!!!

Our family is gonna have a blast this fall chasing elk:
I have an AZ early archery tag for unit 27
My middle son has a early rifle tag for NM unit 16B
And now my oldest son's late season hunt!!!!!

Thats awesome, congrats! I had always thought I would do that hunt with my points, but two behind max wasn't cutting it. I pulled the trigger and drew a 62 tag this year.

Well who ended up with the 124-1 tag? I know a few of us were trying to beat the power ball odds. ??

No luck for me

The draw odds are posted. General was 8.74% with 4 points in the regular draw and 28.98% with 4 in the special…

Horniac
Dang creep. Did they cut elk tags this year? I know they did deer, but didn't see if they did elk?

None for me. Was 100% odds with my current points last year. Even had one in the group with two more points than myself who didn't draw.

Draw reports will be interesting to see.

Good luck to those with tags!

Three years and three strikes!!!! I guess I am out. Or maybe God just doesn't want me to go yet!!!
Two years ago I put in with 10 points and missed it by half a point in the special and could have drawn 100% in the cheaper normal. Last year I was in with my buddy with 11 points each in the special and missed by half a point and could have drawn 100% in the cheaper normal. This year I was in the cheaper normal with my buddy at 12 points each and barely missed it and would have been 100% in the special!!!! Crazy for sure! Well there is always next year. It Will be interesting to see what happens next year with the new special law. Normal will stay the same around $750 but the special will increase from approximately $1200 now to approximately $2000. That might be enough to throw another screw-ball into your odd estimates.
