The officer shot his dog. Graphic video

Cal Fire has many "Authority" issues. One time had me and a friend thrown off a pond for fishing while they worked. Wasnt even close by. Many Ah0les

I have witnessed many dog shootings by other LEO in the past. I have never come across a situation where I had to, nor did I think it needed to happen. Very frustrating, dogs are just being dogs. People on the other hand who have the full capability of making good decisions, well we will literally wait until they are about to kill us before we do the same. But a dog gets shot at the drop of a hat most times.

Yes it is hard to watch but they had a search warrant and I'm sure they told, even begged him to secure his dog. Wtf is wrong with people now days?
Ya, they should have had some dog deterrent. In the past we used fire extinguishers, and to a lesser extend pepper spray.

Dog lunged at cop.....I don't blame him for shooting. Dog just protecting his domain. Sad at the same time.

Dude is pretty quick on the trigger. It does look like the dog lunged and he had to make a quick decision and he chose not to get bitten or mauled. From the video I wouldn't condemn him for what he did. I for one haven't enjoyed the few times I've been bitten by dogs. In a situation where I am not sure of the dogs intentions I would always error on the side of caution and eliminate the threat whether it is popular opinion or not.

I'm not sure if most people know this about dogs or not, but you can get another one tomorrow that looks almost identical and acts pretty much just like the one you had before. I know that is an unpopular opinion, but it's true. I understand people having love for their dogs and animals, but they are not children even though people love to act like they are. As someone who has lost a child I can confirm that a dog's life really isn't that important in the grand scheme of things and I refuse to place animals on the same plain as people/children.

Not to mention it is a very first world problem. While I lived in the Philippines those dogs were often family pets that would then get killed when times were "ruff" so they could feed their families. Only in a very blessed and prosperous country can people have so much luxury that their pets begin to have rights. I'm probably an a$$hole for my opinion, but I'm okay with that.

Yup, you're an a$$hole. But most of us are too and we all have our opinions.

Pelosi doesn't make Cali law....she phucks Idahoans as bad as Cali's....but I get your point

I don't like CalFire armed at all.....they need to use the County Sheriff Department. WTF do these agencies get their power from?
Interesting question. Several years ago there was a bust in the hill near Malibu, and the landowner was shot and killed. They found no plants on the property. At the bust, there were several different agencies, including one from Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Curious, I asked my Uncle (who worked at JPL for many years) why were they there. He explained to me that those agencies were all there to get a slice of the pie from the bust. I'm sure that Cal Fire was at this bust for similar reasons - possibly an area within there jurisdiction? As to Cal Fire carrying firearms, who knows. My only experience with them has been negative and all I will say is that authority goes to the heads of some people at times.

Sounds like Cali has more than it's fair share of paramilitary agencies packing heat. Great way to control people and evidently dogs.

Dogs are uncanny good at character assessments…
Pure BS Homer.

I get that guys love their dogs but even good dogs bite good people. My wife is the best person you'll even meet, period, and she was literally attacked by one while carrying our second child in her arms.
That was back in the wild west days where justice wasn't a lousy law suit but a cheap 50 grain 222 round. Problem solves, justice was served by an unnamed soul.

I just have to wonder how all the mail carriers who deal with serious dog issues daily can survive with just pepper spray but LEO’s “have to” put down so many dogs.
Partly because a LEO can't hold a can of pepper spray and a handgun in the same hand at the same time.

Yeah why did the guy just leash up his dog/ Dogs are dogs. He should have done better by his best friend Sad.

That is your opinion. I had one dog I can never replace. He was my best friend. He got me through some tough times and his intelligence was amazing. I don't begrudge your opinion. I'm just saying I don't agree with your feelings.

Are Cal Fire LEO's?
The title of the article says "law enforcement.......... shooting dog". The shooter appears to be LEO, so that's what I'm going with. If he's not LEO, he would be convicted of brandishing a firearm and shooting the poor little puppy. California isn't to easy on the gun thing in most cases.
I have dogs, each one that I own, I've bought for my kids and to do some hunting with them. It wasn't easy for me to watch the dog that was shot limp around in pain, but that never would have happened if it was properly put away or on a leash. That dog appeared to be trained to protect the property, and was going to bite the man. The "LEO" had his gun drawn, not a can of pepper spray.

I'm not that worried about the dog.

Why do you send out the army over a county permit violation?
In case there is a dog. :)

They send out a bunch of guys because they sometimes run into herds of workers and bad guys. And then they cut down and destroy the plants, sometimes in the hundreds. That takes man power. 90% of the time they confiscate illegal guns and other illegal drugs.

On permit violations?????

They don't confiscate drugs and guns for permit violations because people don't get searched for a permit violation. The county wants your money. They don't want you costing them money with man power, courts, or worse, housing you.

I've got permits coming out my ears to run my business. Federal, state, county, municipal, and nobody is going to stick a pistol in my face and cuff me over any of those permits.

Guess what. Legal businesses have cash and guns on site. Probably the majority of them in my state do and the inspectors don't come in waving guns and yelling demands at anyone.

They show up looking for "permit violations" knowing full well that they're likely to find an illegal operation that is also likely armed to the teeth and sometimes willing to defend their employers operation.

The wacky tobbaccy business is much different than a taxidermy shop.

You mean the business that the state apparently gave a permit to? That's what violent criminals do???? They get state permits for their elicit legal whacky tobaccy business and then break all the laws?????

They have guns and dogs for criminals and druggies that steal their crops not to have shoot outs OVER A FRICKING PERMIT.

Yes, they're operating under the front of a legal, permitted business but behind the scenes they're breaking every law possible to maximize profit. It's commonly referred to as organized crime but in the MJ industry it's often Mexicans, not the Italians so often associated with the concept of organized crime.

You're 100% correct in this statement. However, when the alphabet agencies know that the potential suspects are armed and likely involved in any one of a dozen Cartels they show up in force prepared for any possible scenario. Just because it's happening on US soil don't make the mistake of thinking it's not 100% controlled by some of the most violent people on earth and it's $$$ in the billions.

@Tristate I agree with your opinion on the subject, but it sounds like you're lumping in the MJ business with all the other legitimate businesses in terms of how they are operated and that's simply not the case.

When the state legalized this commerce that means they have to treat it just like any other legal business. That means they have protections against excessive force under the fourth amendment. If you want to stick a gun in somebody's face and they have a legal business you better have more than a permit violation.

“What’s not shown in that video is the attempt to get the property owner to come out to the gate several times, and that person was moving towards the gate and then would back back into the property, come out to the gate, move back to the property, almost as if to lure the deputies, and the officers, in there closer to the dog,” the Sheriff stated.

I can not imagine LEO's didn't beg him to secure his dog. Weed growers (not farmers) aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

The raid was one of between six and nine (the number is disputed) that took place over May 1 and May 2 in remote areas of western Trinity County known for cannabis cultivation. The Sheriff’s Department states that, in total, “over 16,000 marijuana plants and 7,500 pounds of processed marijuana were discovered and destroyed. Also seized were 25 firearms, including a short-barreled Assault Rifle ghost gun and $64,566 of US Currency.”

Not exactly checking to see if a taxidermy shop has an illegal jackelope.

So they found Marijuana. What do they think they find at a legal Marijuana farm????? Are they morons?

So they find $60000 in cash. That's somewhere around $6000-$10000 per business. That is a completely normal amount of cash for a business to have. Again are they morons?

So they found 25 guns. Like I said these are security heavy businesses. These folks deal with a lot of theft AND ACCORDING TO YALL CARTELS. NEWSFLASH, legal businesses have weapons!

So the county rounded up half a dozen farms for permit violations and wiped their ass with the US constitution while doing it so they could get ONE assault rifle ghost gun off the streets.?‍♂️

I can see both sides of this but I'm guessing there is quite a bit more to the story that we aren't getting. My main question is why would these "farms" have a State License and not the County License?

Anyone can get a State license. Just pay a fee and agree to the conditions to have inspections and pay taxes The product has to be tested and stamped. The problem with the State is they didn't think far enough ahead to enforce much of it and the growers know it. The County license is issued with a lot of environmental restrictions and rules. Mostly related to water usage and size of grow. Setbacks from streams, fuel containment, sewage, building codes, etc. It's fairly hard, time consuming, and costly to get a permit from the County.

The person who follows all the rules, gets all the permits, and pays all the taxes are going broke because of all the cheaper illegal weed on the market that has none of the overhead. Nobody I know buys legal weed from a dispensary.

I said TITLE, not article.
All Fire Investigators are Sworn Peace Officers under 830.2(G) of the California Penal Code and are POST certified. They are trained and certified in accordance with the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
I read pretty well actually. I don't know why tree cops carry guns and bust pot farms, but I guess they have the authority in California.

Hey guys. If you run a cartel guess what's better than you shaking down your legal competition?

How about paying off the county and letting them do it for you.

PEOPLE DON'T GET GUNS SHOVED IN THEIR FACE FOR A PERMIT VIOLATION. This is a nation of laws.

PEOPLE DON'T GET GUNS SHOVED IN THEIR FACE FOR A PERMIT VIOLATION. This is a nation of laws.
Sure they do. There's plenty of LEO's that are scared of the job, the gun is their security blanket and qualified immunity prevents them being prosecuted 99.985687412% of the time.

I've personally had a few encounters with one particularly sketchy Game Warden who would draw his pistol and point it at folks as he was first making contact with them. He was scared sh!tless of potentially armed adult males, he didn't make it very long in uniform but I'm sure he's still on the .Gov payroll in some capacity.

This is Duke my spirit friend now. He is the reason I am still on this earth I think. When the ex took everything, and the kids in the mid 90s, I had him still . I lost 30 lbs in 4 weeks jogging with him, as I didn't have a family to come home too.
He could jump like a Malinois catching a Frisbee with perfection. I am sure I went through a dozen Frisbees with him. He would have been a good DEA dog as his nose was better than Michael Boltons. ?

The big selling points for legalization was collecting taxes and driving out the criminal element. Hahaha! It's turned out to be a big fuster cluck. They do collect a bunch of money in taxes and fees so California is good with what's going on.

Imagine big drug cartels moving into the US and nobody gives a rats a$$.

Are Cal Fire LEO's?
Not all of them, but they do have enforcement officers. When they're driving around and you see the number on the side of their truck, if it starts with an "E" that is generally an enforcement truck/officer. They had their academy in Ione, CA, back in 2007, and even though it was an old complex it had it all; gun ranges, EVOC, classrooms, dorms, mess hall, etc. It seems like many of the CalFire guys that go through the academy are older and this is a step up in pay and they can finish out their career making better money, thus also retiring with a higher paying retirement.

DM, that dog is a beauty, I grew up with a shepherd that looked about a twin to your Duke. Extremely smart and protective breed, if someone even looked sideways at one of us kids, she’d tear them a new ass pronto. Incredible nose too, she was a pheasant hunting fool, not a rooster alive could lose her.

Duke would attack if we were but he wouldn't attack if someone came at him. He just knew things that I don't even have to train him to do. He never left the yard unless a dog came on to our property then he would chase them off.

Pot is a joke, now Fentanyl is flooding our streets. You're right about legalizing drugs, turning into a cluster *$3#. Most of their MJ guys pay the county taxes/fees in cash, because the larger banks won't handle the "drug" money.

My dad trained them in Vietnam, during the war. They were trained to find the enemy on patrol rounds. One about bit his finger off;), He absolutely loved those dogs.

My boy Gus. :) We go thru several frisbee’s a year.

The kids picked him up right about when they went off to school and when I retired. We spent every hour together and kept each other busy…..very important with a high energy dog.

I’m afraid if I saw you shoot him, you’d have to shoot two of us.

I've read a few books about Vietnam and the dogs they used. Pretty amazing.

German Shepherds are awesome, you guys are lucky. I’m planning on getting a Sable female when the time is right. I have been around a few and they have always been smart and easy to train but I’ve never had one of my own and when I do, I want to have it as a puppy and raise it going everywhere with me. I like when they can learn to control themselves without a leash. I bet they could find shed antlers too if you work them often enough.

They can do most anything-smart, loyal, great eyes, ears and nose. There are the occasional not too bright ones just like people.
