Barnes Sabots for Elk

I drew a Nevada Elk tag.
I’m shooting a CVA Accura V2.
Anyone have any experience with the Barnes spit-fire T-EZ 290 gr Sabots on Elk ?
My gun is set up with these and is very accurate and I really don’t want to start the whole process over especially with components hard to find. I have plenty of Sabots, Blackhorn 209 and primers for this set up.
Thanks

Thanks diablo that makes me feel better. Now I can spend the summer shooting instead of working on a new load.

They are good. I used to shoot them. I could not get any the last time I was buying bullets and ended up using a Hornady Bore Driver in 290 grain. They did just as good. My advice would be to buy them before mid-July.

Ditto what everyone else said. Great bullet if not the best. Killed several animals including elk, I won’t use any other bullet. Don’t fix what isn’t broken!

I have a .50 TC prohunter and use the 290 TMZ ( yellow sabot ) which are tighter to load and have a boattail. The TEZ ( blue sabot ) are flat base and slighter smaller diameter, hence the EZ part. If the TMZ load ok for you I recommend those but they can be to tight in some guns. They are both great bullets and accurate.

Midway has the 290 tez on sale for $1 a bullet right now. Which is a deal. 290 tmz is in stock also

Thanks I will pick up some more at that price.
I currently have 100+ of the TEZ that’s why I didn’t want to switch out.
They group pretty well for me. 100 yards with my old eyes can’t ask for more.

Yep, tried some 250 gr TMZ's today and they are too tight for my gun.

That being said, I have two unopened packs of 24 and an opened (missing 3 or 4) pack I could make someone a smokin' deal on.

You might try some of these

I would not hesitate to use that set-up on elk. The 290 Barnes TEZ’s and TMZ’s shoot great out of my TC Omega as well. That is my preferred projectile where sabots are legal.

A small sample size for elk I know but my 2007 NV bull only took a few steps and then reared up on his hind legs and fell over dead at 87 yards when the 290 Gr TMZ hit him. Have also killed several deer and other animals with that same 290 Gr Barnes.

Congrats on the elk tag and good luck on your hunt!

Thanks Horniac and that’s a great looking Bull.

Like stated above. Awesome bullet with a lot of success on elk. We have used Barnes bullets for 12 plus years in both 250 and 290 grains. Several dozen elk with these bullets. All five of my sons and my guns are set up for Barnes.

Here are some T-EZ slugs I’ve pulled from some bucks the past few years. All one shot kills. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them on elk. Great muzzy bullets.
