Box Elder Muzzleloader

Looks like I made a mistake on my application and drew a muzzleloader Box Elder deer tag. Anyone have any info they want to share? Any property owners I could reach out to? I may just turn the tag back in, but thought I'd ask first.

Not sure what area that all takes in, but if Grouse Creek is within that area, that's a place to start. Lot's of private property but there's plenty of public ground as well. There's some decent areas southeast of town you could look at. Ingham Canyon is one of the main ones. I've hunted that area a couple of times (rifle) and it's a fun area and we did see a few smaller bucks.

Appears I also made a mistake on my application. Drew Central Mountain Nebo muzzleloader deer. Not sure how I did that, but I did. I have zero knowledge of this unit. WTH!!!

You had to verify and confirm your hunt choices how many times before you submit payment information? At least twice. Then they send a confirmation email. There’s at least 3 times you had to catch your “mistake”….

My guess is you were out of preference points and wanted a tag this year, so you researched draw odds and found a unit that was compatible for what you had with work with.

I wish people would just be honest with themselves and others. Much more likely to get honest responses when you start off as being the honest one.

I wouldn't feel too bad if I had a Nebo tag. I love hunting recent burns.
But at the end of the day, it’s still a Nebo tag. Way too many tags for a unit that is nowhere close to actual existing, huntable deer on the landscape compared to what they publish in their population estimates.

Central Mountain Nebo/ Central Mountain Manti. It was an honest mistake, and I can own up to that. I really didn't care if I drew. However, be careful calling out someone because you don't think they are being honest. You may run in to that person one day.
And? I have no issues “calling someone out”, and I’m certainly not scared of running into them one day.

Here's the thing Little Shiras! I was merely stating I made a mistake just as DSilver. Not a big deal. If you want to make a comment keep it classy as stated by ridgetops. We understand you are the expert here.

Where did ridge state to keep it classy?

I’m far from an expert. I’m just not dumb enough to throw out blind applications and not double check them or think that people can’t see through my lies.

tough crowd out there!

If I was hunting boxelder I would use the heck out of ONX, find small parcels of huntable public and be patient as deer get pushed around

If I was hunting Nebo I would go high, steep and deep. Glass into burns, hard to reach bowls and canyons. Glass glass glass. Also would not be a bad idea to have a long range muzzy gun

I have lived in Box Elder for 40 years.. I don’t have a tag for that unit by choice.
Best of luck, but you’re going to need find some private for an easy hunt. Plenty of maps out there for public land.

It's doable, there are deer, and there are lots of people. You hunt the Raft Rivers, Pilots or around Grouse Creek and have public ground you can hunt.

The raft river/ sawtooths have 71,000 acres of huntable land just by themselves. I have a box elder archery tag. I'll give it hell.

I'm very interested in this area as a fall back as we usually try to draw the area across the Idaho border..are there a few good bucks to be had in this area? I've driven through and seen plenty of deer but never spent any time in the unit hunting. If anyone wants to bs about it in PM hit me up.

I let a good one get away from me on the black powder hunt in the Pilots. I think around Grouse Creek you could probably turn up something decent. Raft Rivers, I killed a Forky

You can hunt them like the "pro's" I saw when I was in box elder. Technique was, drive through private lands with Wife's minivan doors open, beers and muzzleloaders on the ready waiting for that B&C forky close enough to drag under fence in a hurry. If you could see through your dust clogged scopes that is.

That's funny and sad all in the same pic Outdoordan. Thinking I might have seen that same rig in NM.
