He is a personal friend of mine and one of the most hardcore hunters I know. Not just physically, but mentally as well. He's the person most likely to beat Doug Burris's world record Muley on the planet. He passed everything up this year holding out for a monster. Believe me, if you could see the bucks he passed you would think he's crazy, but that's what it's going to take to beat a net 226" buck.

He isn't posting because there are a few jerks on here that can't keep from insulting him. Reap it fellas!

Talked to him the other day, Ute is doing ok, he sent me a pic of a lion kill typical that looks to be 218-220, he is a hard core hunter that gets to hunt some of the best mule deer country. As many bucks as he passes up he will one of these years get close or pass 226 as he seems to like monster typicals.

He has obviously taken grief over the years for having the ability to hunt much later dates than rest of us. But Its hypocritical for most to criticize him, for we would be out there hunting too if we had the ability. Keep doing what you're doing Duke, can't let the haters get you down. Sure do miss seeing your pictures.

I have zero issue with Ute being annoyed. Utah-centric posts clutter up the General forum. There is a big world out there that is beyond the Utah state line. People that live in other parts of the country actually know a bit about hunting and have stories to share if MM felt as if was a broader Western hunting forum rather than a Utah.

Then there are people hating on others for how they legally hunt. Usually takes about 5 replies for the tone to go childish and personal. Duke it out, boys, and that will resolve who is right.

A very small tent has formed at MM the last few years, in my opinion. SFW was a polarizing issue that raised the blood pressure of dozens of members.

MM can be better. That is a fact. There are other forums out there and the tone will impact who participates in those and MM.

I hope Brian is able to create a different tone.

The people on here deserve what they get... endless arguments about meaningless facts. Their stupidity is matched only by their arrogance, a very bad combination. It takes time away from life to post up pics and stories, and all it gets is ridicule and accusations of criminality. The only reason to do it is self amusement. He did have some awesome deer though, the kind you would think a place like this would be about. But hey we could start a "guess the score" thread, that will do.

utehunter, You are certainly welcome to do as you wish but i will again state how much i enjoy seeing what you and you family are able to get each year and believe the large majority here feel the same way. Truly some special trophy's!

I understand a few guys here are the ones giving you the grief. Actually, one or two guys can spoil a good thing and it sucks that the large majority of guys here, regulars, lots of guys that don't post or don't post much, have to pay the price of the few.

Myself, i've tried other sites but i keep coming back here. I guess it's not for everybody but what goes on here in these threads is part of what makes MM what it is, IMO, the Best!

Serious good luck finally getting that record Typical, i'm rooting for you!!

Be honest, did you shoot the Hyde Park buck while the buck was eating Fuji apples out of hand of some 7 year old child? What's your take on this? Should we outlaw monster bucks in Park settings or outlaw kids under 9 years old unless they pay an admittance fee?

Ute , Ive never met you but remember some pics of you and your dad and bro in Muley Crazy some years back.My buddy Miguel said he does know you and you are very hard core and find and pass mammoth muleys most guys would die for....I gotta say I wished I could hang out in your country and see some of the things you do and learn some, but anyhow , glad to see your still around and hope to sometime meet you. Enjoy Ute. I agree with you. I have always stayed positive on here and avoided any negative posts by myself. I hate seeing the negative ones. Hope you can still post occasionally and hopefully MM members can enjoy and keep it positive. Always easy for some to talk down what they are not able, allowed or cannot accomplish. I too enjoyed seeing the big bucks they always killed! Duke is a good guy. He helped me out before a hunt a few years ago and even had me call him while I was on the hunt. Thanks to him and his info, I had a fun hunt!
