    Colorado Draw Working Group Recommendations

I remember probably a couple decades ago or more when certain states were talking about doing away with non-resident tags. Other states, mostly western states vowed to not allow hunters from any state that did not allow non-resident hunting, from hunting their states. That idea went away real...

I have 12 points for a particular hunt...I have never drawn it. My buddy who I apply with had like 16, and we used to apply for this hunt together, and we never drew with an average of 14 points. The average number of points to draw this hunt was 9 points. About three years ago, his...

    Unit 15 Antelope Disappointment.

I come from ranching families on both sides. I believe that the closer we get to the European model of game management, the closer we get to the demise of public land hunting, and soon hunting will only be a pursuit of the rich, and not a common activity. Then the anti's will have won.

    Unit 15 Antelope Disappointment.

    Unit 15 Antelope Disappointment.

I agree that all ranchers are different. Back when archery antelope were unlimited, I had rancher ask me to gather all my buddies and go hunt his ranch. He said the antelope actually kicked the cattle off of water. I agree that all ranchers are different. Back when archery antelope were...

Should Governor Type Tags Exist? (Poll)

What does Africa have to do with governor's tags? And since you brought it up, how many people...American's or not, can afford to hunt Africa on a regular basis, if at all? I am talking about limiting unique and coveted tags to only those who can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a...

    Nm GMU 27 tips?

I grew up in Silver City and used to venture down to GMU 27 quite frequently. It used to be such a magical area. I haven't been down there in years, but here are my thoughts...If you are looking for Coues deer, hunt up high. The mule deer will be down in the flats and up to midslope. That is...

Should Governor Type Tags Exist? (Poll)

The closer we get to a European model of game management, the fewer the people who can afford to hunt, the less folks we recruit into our ranks, the less relevant the game/hunting becomes to the actual owners of the wildlife (the citizens of the state), and the fewer people who care about...

    Drawing results

I haven't drawn in New Mexico since 2019 when I drew a pronghorn tag and a deer tag. Filled both tags with great animals. I used to at least draw my third choice deer tag every year. I am looking forward to becoming a resident again in my home state. All I need to do is finish up my career...

6.5 creedmore vs 6.5 PRC for Mule deer

I agree with you, and I am also bald. I shoot a 6.5-284 Norma as well. My brother shoots a 6.5PRC, my other brother shoots a 6.5x55 Swede, and my niece shoots a 6.5 Creedmor. I also shoot a 264 Win Mag.

6.5 creedmore vs 6.5 PRC for Mule deer

The 6.5 Creedmor was designed to punch paper and steel at the range all day long without making your shoulder hamburger meat. The PRC outperforms is just about all metrics except recoil, cost, and ammo availability. In a hunting application, I would always go with the PRC. I personally shoot...

I shot a 4.5 year old buck one year that had the largest body of any deer I've ever taken. My butcher told me the carcass was 187lbs after aging 15 days, so he said that back was likely over 350lbs. The next year in the same area, I shot another 4.5 year old buck that was probably less than...
