    You ever notice?

My biggest rule when ever I help someone privately is they not share anything I shared. Especially since the areas are places I hunt all the time and they may hunt once or twice. Sorry but I will not share any information that I did not get through my own expierience. sharing information some...

HAHA... And? Alaska is a completely different world than anything in the lower 48.

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

haha. In one state we have a system where it might be working. Funny however that same state is constantly battling and trying to get hounds for hunting bears. The issue however is in states that ban bait, the next target is to eliminate the spring season. You know how unfair it is to hunt these...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

The first line in your argument is the problem. None of these regulations are imposed on themselves. You are not seeing hounds men call for no more hound hunting. You do not hear people who trap call for trapping bans. You do not hear anyone that is seriously into Coyote hunting calling for...

As for wolves in Colorado. If Mountain Pursuit wanted to put a bounty on any wolf killed in WY within 100 miles of Colorado Border, then and maybe then I could stomach the group and support their cause. Also I will commend mountain pursuit on it opposition to the One shot hunt (makes me pretty...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

HAHA and how do you think that hunting in Colorado started down the path of being doomed? What do you think happened first in the state.... They first started off with a trapping ban, then a hound ban, then a baiting ban (all passed at the same relative time), then a spring hunt ban, then a...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

HAHA... Not left leaning? The president of the group is on record speaking against ecallers, baiting, etc. Once those are gone what will he need to attack next? Again sorry but I do not I will give you that Montana is an exception, but the interesting thing looking at MT is that the bear season...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

Look at states that have went to only spot and stalk. The data from those states paint a significantly different picture than from data in states with hounds and baiting. Look at the bear population in such states where bait, has been eliminated. The data does not lie, Colorado, California, New...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

Nope you are incorrect. Have you ever tried running a bait station for bears? Have you ever hunted over one? Sorry but the use of bait is biologically important. It allows for targeted harvest of specific animals, it allows hunters to determine sex, age, size, etc. More importantly it along with...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

Nope not at all... They are specifically against any organized hunt for coyotes. That is what is meant by a coyote hunt. They oppose organized hunts. They also oppose electronic callers for predators, and as mentioned bear baits.

    Unit 57 Antelope Success

It does not matter where to start. There are so many lopes and they are all over the unit. You just need to move and glass and move and glass. Any roads any locations. The only thing I wished I had done was get access or drawn to be on the Tipton area. Just one more spot to look for an 80"...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

I am not willing to give up baiting for bears, e-callers and predator hunts. I see nothing wrong with those items and they are the backbone of what Mountain Pursuits stand for...

    Predator Hunt Judgement

The data from this specific data showed in relation to fawns, specifically new born fawns that you have your lions and bears switched... I keep waiting for the researcher to publish the findings from the NW project because it will provide some interesting data that might be pretty eye opening...

    Predator Hunt Judgement

I will wait for the appeal on this one... I have a strong feeling that it will likely be overturned. But by then the data will be delayed. I know the Unit 22 study very well and am anxious for the final data to be released. It will show a very interesting result that will make the environmental...

I get that and agree about MFF. But not about to sacrifice predator hunts, ecallers, baiting for bears... Coming from a state where predator hunters are constantly attacked, I will not support that here...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

The group linked by the op, appears to be Mountain Pursuits affiliated, ran by Rob Shaul. As such I am going to be very careful to support the "307Hunter" group as I do not see the clear line between the 2 and they appear to be one in the same. I am not confident that my money would only go to...

    Wyoming Resident hunters lobby group

Hymm... Look like an arm of Mountain Pursuits, not sure I can support the group. Mainly due to their stance on predator's and predator hunting. As much as I would support 90/10 resident split, I don't think I can lay in that bed.

How many days are you gonna get in 2021?

So I have not counted my spring bear or turkey yet as those are not fully set, but it looks like my fall will be 36 days (maybe 45) for Lope Elk and Deer. Assuming I get nothing cool like sheep or moose. That is all without taking any extra days off work and spread across the archery and rifle...

    Deer Unit 5 or 6

Unit 5 is a red zone for the CWD and the state. The result is a ton of tags in a unit already under objective with the purpose being to kill every mature buck in the unit. As a result unit 5 which is incredible deer habitat is totally screwed just like the rest of the NW units.

Deer NR 14 points, this is what I'm thinking

22 has the access and the roads that would allow you to cover tons of ground and not really be limiting factor given your health conditions. It would be perfect for the limited mobility. This is a once in a lifetime hunt, have you considered a guide and not DIY? There are still some good bucks...

Another where to move to in WY?

Ok I was not really sure. I was looking at the 10 forecast and all but one day in the 10 day called for temps in the mid to upper 40s and Friday is supposed to hit over 50. Here we already had a ton of melting, and our forecast is calling for more warm temps. I hope we do not see great loss, but...

Another where to move to in WY?

Do you really think this is a killer storm? With highs in the 40s and 50s and the ease of the winter, do you feel that they might be alright with the warmer temps around the corner?

    Colorado 3rd season units 4, 441, 214, 14

Lived in Craig for almost 10 years and hunted them a good chunk. The deer quantity had always been decent but quality has always been an issue. But given the last couple years of management and now the later seasons, a hunt where a guy could expect to easily find 3-4 year old bucks but now most...

    Colorado 3rd season units 4, 441, 214, 14

Depends on the tag. Some landowner tags are good unit wide meaning they can be used on the public land others are truly private land only. But if the hunt code for the license is good for all units then it could be used in all units but would still be private only or both public and private. I...

Living in or near Star Valley

When we moved to WY, we considered ourselves refugees, not immigrants. Anyone moving here should consider what that means. Star Valley is nice, but no chance I would ever live there, housing cost too much for too little. If I have to weather the winters, I better have a damn nice place to...

The issue is the fact that even open it is still using a form of magnification. That would likely be the issue that pushes it over the legal thresh hold.

    Youth Age Bill

I have had a few people think that the all the little kids are gonna take lic opportunities from others? Given our random draw, that is possible, but on the same hand we have general resident tags, so would that resident tag really limit others opportunity? I like the MT system. A parent who is...

    Thanks Wyoming

If you can find a second choice White tail hunt, there is no reason to wait. I would apply second choice any day and still build my points as much as possible. I would try the hail mary, deer and the second whitetail. Might as well have a shot.

    Youth Age Bill

So wouldn't you rather have the freedom as a parent to determine when is the right time? As for the idea that a kid cant be a safe ethical hunter, does that mean that we should not allow them to hunt small game at a younger age?
  34. elks96

    Youth Age Bill

So want to point this out... One of the bills currently being considered in WY, is allowing for the age to be dropped when a kid has terminal illness and may not make it to 12 to hunt. The issue was recently there was a young lady who was not 12 who wanted to hunt through a program like make a...

Another where to move to in WY?

Riverton has good prices for housing and not far from the mountains. We live in lander, more pricy for land and a place. Nicer town than Riverton. Given your situation, Thermop or Worland might be nice. They have some pretty mild weather.

    Legislation

Absolutely hate the idea of transferable land owner tags. Colorado's system proves why they are a horrible path to start on.
  37. elks96

    Legislation

I am absolutely against preference points. In every form and shape. I sure hope WTF is smart enough to avoid that damn system. The 90/10 is a good thing and should move forward under the right direction. I am afraid that WTF is not in it for the little guys and all about the money. Time will tell.

    Youth Age Bill

Thanks, this is something I have considered as well. Emotionally ready is likely just as varied as physically ready. It is too bad you had that negative experience, what do you think would have been the result if your son managed to take that buck on his first shot? My wife was 22 on her first...

    Youth Age Bill

So a younger kid cant earn what they get? oh and forcing them meant that they had no option to hold a tag. Not forcing them into the woods. As for the one argument, pushing for 8, why not? If a kid was under direct supervision of the adult and was proficient with the firearm. why not 8? By...

    Seen This?

I find it funny that everyone who whines about the wilderness bill are now all the sudden doing the biding of outfitters in our state. IT is funny. WY will go 90/10 it is going to happen just a matter of time. I feel sorry for NR hunters, but ecstatic for the residents...
