    2024 Fall Hunt Recommendations

I figured they would bump tags up some on the Kaibab and strip. They bumped a couple 5 and 10 tag adds nothing crazy. But the biggest addition was moving doe tags from 25 up to 60 on the Kaibab after them back from 100 to 25. Not sure about this but Iam sure the big burns and decent winters have...

    SOMEBODY'S IN TROUBLE!!!

Right most infrastructure is the world is safe as long as something weighing 220,000 tons does not ram into it. Do not worry fellow sheep everything is ok is what he is really saying. Things happen, it could have been much worse, say at 0800 in the morning.

    SOMEBODY'S IN TROUBLE!!!

This will be a major and LONG term setback, and they won't be able to have other container ships come until they pull the wreckage clear. I do not think there enough clearance in the other parts of the bridge. I cannot imagine what the traffic will be like, that area is a zoo anyway.

    Unit 551

Depending on what your looking for ( assuming 2nd or 2rd season ) you can road it fairly effectively. Or do short walks ( few hundred yards) to glassing points, reality is that is how 80 percent of people hunt no matter their physical condition anyway depending on where the deer are because it...

    Grizzly Bear Introduction

If it was up to the people with this great idea it would be a life sentence to shoot one. The wolves are already spreading very fast in WA, it does not get much attention however. The moose and whitetail will continue to get pummeled in NE WA. WA is basically 15 years ahead of CO, get ready I am...

Applications Numbers 2024 draw~ system crash

As long as it is before Utah is due the 25th so I can determine my level of risk I am happy. I wish these states would line up every three weeks in the spring from due to draw and then next up, I know dreaming.

I need some help picking a scope.

Look at Zeiss V4, for around a grand they are tough to beat. If I am spending more than that go straight to Nightforce. Zeiss v4 in the 4-16 44mm obj. Around 20 oz and all the scope you need- can mount it fairly low also.

    Very good podcast.

Very good listen. This guy knows stuff and has solid answers for sure. The unit to unit limiting factors, predator levels and fat levels over winter etc was very interesting. Solid dude, no bs.

Anyone wanna talk lead ballons? Do you have any in your collection? Any you want for your collection?

Some random info -- 35 whelen is an example of something that was on life support until a season/weapon type law changed. In MS a single shot of 35 caliber or greater is considered a "primitive weapon". So everyone started buying the longest range 35 they could find. This is why you can find 35...

Shooting sticks ( tripod ) or mounted bypod?

I usually carry one of the tall Bog pod tripods and use it sort of as a walking stick. I have a 9-13 inch pivoting Harris on the gun but only about 1 out of 4 or so situations allow that without wasting time and getting frustrated crap is in your way when you get down on the gun. Kneeling or...

Your Favorite Method of Hunting? (Poll)

I love elk in sept. This happens to be bow season, the interaction and close distances involved with rutting elk is second to none. I do wish more states would offer Nov mule deer archery seasons. More opportunities could be made with a lower success rate. Modern rifles ( Iam as guilty as anyone...

    Nevada Bucks

I have only been lucky enough to draw Pronghorn in northern NV. Loved that hunt, so quiet and almost no vehicles once away from the main roads to mines. The wide open spaces and ability get away from people out there is what makes NV special. Going to expand my choices this year a little for...

    F250 vs 2500 silverado

Yes it is a procharger. I do not tow more than 5k lbs with it. It is a big toy really and way overkill but most HD trucks are unless you are towing over 8/9k regularly. I have been driving raptors last five years but iam planning on swapping to towing a small enclosed trailer ( will double as...

    F250 vs 2500 silverado

I have an 2022 F250 7.3 Tremor package. It is about as good of a do all truck there is. The Tremor has 4.30 gearing and a legit limited slip in the front axle that works very well. With a small Carli lift and 37s it is comfortable and will go anywhere you need if you can fit it and turn around...

    SXS mileage

I rented a Yamaha Rmax1000 4 seater this year in CO for deer. It had 4500 rental miles on it and ran like a top. Was very impressed with it, truth is as many people make the switch to save their mortgage payment trucks to keep them from getting beat up ( truck and driver ) at half the speed, the...

    Proposed season structure 2025-2029

The archery/muzz overlap.. I had forgot about that, the muzz deserves separate dates. I do not understand how that happened in the first place. Especially for the points some of the muzz hunts are for elk vs archery. 4th muzzy deer would be a good idea. The vulnerability/quality hunt of 4th...

    Proposed season structure 2025-2029

This will definitely make 2nd and 3rd season busier for OTC elk hunters burning up the roads and SXS trails. I hunted a 16 year 3rd season draw tag for deer last year and the OTC elk traffic was crazy. The first season deer is a good idea. I would say split the 2nd season quota up between 1st...

    Idaho HB 587

I have bought three deer tags in a row and not punched one as backups earlier in the year to know I had something to do. Also one draw MD tag last year that ran I out of vacation time for. Idaho HB 587

To be clear I would want them to go to one draw for deer. Increase the fee some, whatever. It sure would help the NR who would wait and hunt other states but have a much greater chance at the better deer tags. While they are at it get the 2 point hunts out of the low 40s. And yes at 17...

    Idaho HB 587

Yes two draws makes sense for them. If they $20 each for deer and elk x 2 lotteries. Simple math says at 50k applicants that is a cool million per animal for the general draw. If they keep it random. Or they could add in $50 bonus points on the general draw ( sort of like MT ) where you can draw...

    Idaho HB 587

Idaho HB 587 - ALL NR Tags go to a draw for elk deer and pronghorn. As a NR I am for this, I bet I could have had a general archery elk tag in the last five years, well maybe. The best part is not stopping almost a whole day of work for the hardest lottery in the west ( ok joking, sort of )...
