Some active rutting on the 1st then bucks bedding with does on the 2nd. no bucks cruising that we’ve seen. Since then they’ve made themselves scarce. I guess they saw this windy weather coming.

We saw em rutting today, chousin but no breeding or fighting that we saw. The bucks were pretty tolerant of each other, it’s still early I guess. On the other hand some of the bucks looked exhausted so i dunno- maybe they’ve been at this awhile.

I’m not buying it— the mechanical bull operators around here run it MUCH more slowly for the female riders than they do for me. And that’s a fact

we hunted there fourth season a few years back and definitely missed the migration. Everything was on private and also, was a doe… Hang out at the coffee shop in mancos and chat up the locals for access. Most will actually be from out of state but you can probably spot the natives with dirty...

We were there a couple years ago on a youth deer hunt but spent most time down south below the burns. Kind of worried about the hunting pressure, it’ll be a new thing for us!

Thanks! I was considering an addendum to that effect.. 245 grain powerbelt hit right front shoulder and was ultimately fatal, but did not exit (which is fairly apparent above). I didn't go into the cavity looking for it and haven't yet butchered the quarters. He was only shooting 85 grains...

Got my Red Bull, amphetamines, and Depends on order for the drive up there from Tx on Friday, should be rolling in for muzzleloader opener. Hopefully we’ll be smacking a fat cow in short order!

While not unreasonable, $360 for a youth cow five day hunt ain’t a screaming deal compared to Colorado or Wyoming. In any case we have no more time for out of state hunts so will have to pass. I’m kind of surprised residents didn’t snatch em all up though.
