Hello all, my question is can you use this tag (over the counter archery elk "hunters choice") on a LE elk unit to harvest a cow elk. There's limited information about this particular tag and I've heard conflicting opinions on it. I've even called the DWR offices and got two different answers?

So the satisfaction rate for hunting deer on Thousand Lakes is painfully low....granted, the 1.8 is for "dedicated hunter" but for alll other deer hunts the satisfation rate is in the 2s. Additionally, the harvest total for deer on Thousand Lakes is almost the worst in the entire state of Utah...

Unfortunately its as bad as Ive ever seen it at 1000 lakes this year. Why?....its a combination of multiple dry years...DWR totally devastated this unit by issuing too many tags....the Lemon bullies taking out all the good genes...and realistically, the unit doesn't have that many deer...look at...

Yes, I realize it seems like a silly question and that common sense would lead you to believe that just one person should do the group application but it doesn’t clarify this in the big game application handbook. Thanks for your kind and brilliant comments!

When applying as a group, is it possible for all of the individual group members to apply as a group? If so, does this increase your odds?

Its terrible management and greedy decision makers who are destroying multiple units....Example is Thousand Lakes unit...this unit used to be LE and was average at best with some decent bucks. This unit never had an over abundance of deer! The total number of tags given out was a total of 40...

So the new “bait” law states that you cannot bait for the purpose of “taking” or harvesting a big game animal…this seems fairly clear. What is not clear is if you can specifically bait for the purpose of getting pics on your trail cam. It seems to me that this should still be legal…it does not...

So I just want to verify that you can hunt on an elk LE unit with an archery elk hunters choice tag and harvest a cow or elk?

Keep in mind that the deer patterns will be completely different during the rifle hunt. In some ways the rifle hunt can be more challenging and difficult because you just don't know what your going to get with their pattern/habits. I can tell you that this year doesn't look great for deer on TL...
