I will reword question. Was it one of the red Desert units? I have seen several good bucks from other units and curious how things are going in the Red Desert units . Decent quantities of animals, etc.

I'm just curious, If you get drawn for a limited tag for Deer or Elk can you still hunt the General season first if it's earlier and if you tag out just not hunt the limited tag or are you restricted to only hunting with the limited tag?

I'm the other way around. I pass on Elk hunts until a later date to chase big mule deer ! Where are you looking to move to?

Thank you. I live in northern Az (Prescott) so I get to see some pretty good goats but by no means am I a scoring expert. I'm really just looking to use my points in a good area before I move up there. I don't get overly picky until it comes to Mule Deer, My favorite game animal.

It seems to be a toss up as to when to hunt. Opening day more big bucks but more people or do it how you did and have the place to yourself. I won't know how to approach it until after all the draws are done, see what I get drawn for and go from there.

I have 27 points for Antelope here in AZ along with 19 in Nevada and 18 in Oregon. I just try to hunt areas with good genetics to increase my odds of a good animal but at the end of the day the hunt itself is what it's all about. If I tried to wait for a "good" year to put in I probably would...

Do you think 14 points will be enough to draw this year?

I will have 18 points for moose this year as a NR but looking to move to Wy within the next year so I guess I will benefit from it.

It's just my wife. We will also have a house in Az in the valley so she can escape from time to time to to get warm again. Prescott has one of the highest cost of living in Az so I'm ok with that. I keep an eye on home pricing in Wy so I am aware of the increase but AZ is the same way.

It also has to do with matching up why I want to move there with what I like to do. I love hunting mule Deer more than anything and Elk are getting my attention more and more. I have hunted region G 3 times 102 once and a couple times by Baggs. I have 16 points for Moose that as a Non Res I'm...

I should be moving to Wyoming either next summer or the following summer so I need to burn my points before becoming a resident. My plan is to do it while I am living there waiting my year before I can be a resident.

That's what I was thinking as far as the fishing. Didn't know about the sheds. Star Valley was my original choice but thought my wife would like Pinedale better.

Out of curiosity what do you like about Pinedale?

The first 2 times I hunted it on foot and swore I was done with the area since it is so hard on your body but that country just keeps drawing me and alot of others back!

I used "G" because that is the area everyone seems to relate too and the battles rage over resident versus non resident. I will hopefully be moving up to probably Pinedale next summer and I just wanted to get a feel on how most people hunt that area. It is beautiful country but hard on the body!
