I had the tag in 2018, went the 2nd to last week and had the place to myself. Looked over thousands of goats before taking this guy. The bigger ones stand out over all the low 70” bucks. Barely misses BC but you’ll have fun. I had cell service in lots of places and slept in Baggs. It’s nice to...
Doug, you and I usually agree on everything but this I have to disagree with, and there are a lot of guys on here and other places who shoot 500 plus yards with open sites with their muzzleloaders. Sliding open peep sights are a very common site in states that don’t allow optics. Here is just...
Wyoming Outfitter Association and Sy are in it for themselves and will do anything possible to pad their pocketbooks and make themselves a required resource.
No different then any others group that makes their living off a resource. They are a political lobbying group that makes decisions...
So much false information here and its hard to argue with stat's but lets break it down Barney style.
I'm going to reference the Book Cliffs, as it's one of the largest tag allotments for LE deer. So it should produce the largest increase in draw odds based on your thinking.
These stat's are...
First thing first is to get the LE elk hunt out of the rut. Move it to October during the mule deer rifle hunt. Less hunter success means more tags offered.
After that I would do the following changes if I was king for the day.
1- no more waiting periods
2- no more bonus and preference point...

Nothing will change until we stand United…. While I like the expo and what it brings, you have to scratch your head when so many social media influencers and ties to groups keep drawing.
Draw should be done live, the old school way. Assign everyone a number...
Agreed, every state with mule deer has had a sharp decline regardless of efforts from multiple organizations to include the holy grail RMEF.
Many of the projects that were targeted for mule deer have also benefited elk. Comparing the two species is not comparing apples to apples.
If I was sitting on your points I’d be putting in for the multi-season tags. Either Paunsgaunt, Henries, or roll the dice for OC.
Go create lots of memories and have fun!
Expectation management!!! When you started the points game did you say to yourself that you’re only going to put in for the best unit in Utah or did that come after all these years?
If you made that commitment to yourself then OC it is and ride it out till you draw, or another unit gets...
Obviously some people have a problem with filtering sarcasm from posts on this site. If someone decides on a unit solely off information that they read on here then they deserve a mediocre unit.
If the OP or others are questioning on either hunting or not, I say go hunt. The herds aren’t...
Henries is down, Pauns is down, your safe bet this year is Oak Creek, Books, Vernon, and Diamond.
Maybe a late season Zion… actually I heard Thousand Lakes is on the up and up. ?♂️
Oak Creek, oAk Creek, oaK Creek….. more people need to put in for OAK CREEK…. Hurry up already! Hot spotting ?, you can thank Shawn Morgan for that. Did you all hear about the awesome bucks spotted on Vernon and Books this winter?
You all should thank SFW for buying grazing permits on the Henries and the Bookcliffs, they have been buying them up so that the herd size could be increased and started on the books.
The Henries could support more but the BLM and Forest Service won’t allow that due to carrying capacity. Right...
Split the muzzy hunt, give the old percussion cap systems the first five days, and then in-line get the last few days. You can’t hunt both hunts, pick your poison!! in-line guys get to still hunt and use their weapons on a more limited hunt and more tags can be given to the primitive weapons...
I’ve seen shrinkage, but I think the horns also get set lower on the head after it’s all clean. All the blood and junk under the sheath is now gone to they slide a little lower…
