Access is pretty good if you are a capable hiker. Units small look high and/or try and find bucks hitting ag on private and bedding on public. I have elk hunted it a bunch.

The same I will be happy with but the snow pack was much less in southern Utah than last year. The possible rain now into the rest of the week maybe the difference. The biggest bucks that I will be targeting are protected until they hit the rutting/winter range.

As a nonresident pine valley and Panguitch are the harder units to draw. Lots of Vegas and California flock there due to the fact it’s close to the border.

I personally can see it fine during shooting hours. It will depend on your eyes.

I prefer the really fine crosshairs with a tiny bit of white paint in the junction of the crosshairs. The fiber optics are so big they cover a lot when I am trying to take a longer shot.

I I have a Williams peep and can hit a 10” gong at 250 yards with the fine crossair in the globe and I have the quick adjust nobe for elevation.

There are decent numbers if birds on the pine valley unit and the Zion unit as well.

I misread thought you were up north. I would never drive north to hunt general mule deer. You will be happy if you put in the time on pine valley.

Personally I would hunt dedicated hunter closer to home. The advantage of dedicated is being able to scout and scout/hunt all the seasons so driving 4 hours down makes that a lot harder. Also the tag numbers on Pine Valley and Zion are suppose to drop this year and it is possible only one...

Once you go with bh209 you can’t go back!! Readily available locally for me so I picked up 2 lbs since i should have a Utah muzzleloader tag this year. 777 just does not cut it in my custom .45 (more than half’s my range and adds a lot of fouling).

Escalante, Capitol reef, canyons lands/surrounding, cedar mesa, zion low elevation, sone hidden stuff in Glen canyon. lots of options.

I wouldn’t spend 4 points on SW desert it has a very low population of deer. Unless you plan to scout a lot. Pine Valley, Zion, and panguitch creep thanks to increasing hunters coming to Utah from NV and CA. Luckily I am a resident and normally draw a archery of muzzleloader tag every year.

Adults should be able to load there own weapon and know all of its functions . Kids I think anything we can do to get them in the field and successful so loading a kids gun is acceptable in my opinion. Only thing mandatory fir kids is firearms safety.
