    Leupold Sequoia Spotting Scope w/case

I'm selling a Leuopld Sequoia Spotting Scope. It's a 15x45x60. It has never been used. My Dad bought it several years ago for mule deer hunting but never got a chance to use it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. $325 shipped to your door in Lower 48. Spotting scope with 15x to 45x...

I'm not opposed to used but I'm trying to see what the quality is and if it's worth paying the extra to upgrade. I currently have 15x vortex hd.

    $1000 glass?

I'm looking to upgrade from my Vortex. Is going to something in the $1000 range a significant enough upgrade? If so, what's the best pair of glass $1000 or less? I'm looking for 10x. I don't need anything stronger.

    place for beginner elk hunting

I'm hoping some of you will be willing to help point me in the right direction. I'm an experienced hunter but new to elk hunting. I'm looking for a place for my Dad and I. I don't care about shooting a trophy...any legal bull would be acceptable. Rifle would best. Most likely states would be...

    tripod

How big of a tripod do you normally use? I am going on my first mule deer hunt and need a tripod but I'm not sure what to get. I won't be using it a lot so I'm not looking for something expensive. Weight is a minor concern but not a real big deal. Anyone have some thoughts?

    which season?

My bad. I should have included more. Let's say either one. What would you look for if you are after an elk with a rifle? How about a muley buck with a rifle?

    which season?

How do you guys determine which season you're going to hunt? I would imagine the 1st LE hunt is number 1. But after that, how do you decide between the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons? Does elevation play a part? My question is, if you go later in the season can you expect to hunt lower and sometimes...

    270 grain and type

Wow, I'm surprised at how many times I've heard 130 or 140 grain bullets for elk. I would have assumed the answer would have been 150's. I guess that's why I asked the question. Why do these lighter weights work better? I'm not up on the ballistic charts and interpretations like I should be...

    270 grain and type

I've got a Remington 270 that I'm taking elk hunting for the first time. What grain and type of bullet (not brand) would you suggest? Thanks!

    rifle

Thanks for the replys. I would agree that all things being equal I would shoot the 06. My problem is that I have a better scope on the 270. Is 150 grains the largest you can get for the 270?

    rifle

Okay, I know this question has the potential to open a huge can of worms but I need to ask anyway. I was recently asked to go on my first elk hunting trip and I'm trying to decide between my 30-06 or 270. Which do you think and what grain bullet? Please don't come back with 'a good shot and it...

    antelope hunt question

I recently decided to go on an antelope hunt with Timberline Outfitters in New Mexico. Does anyone have any experience with this outfitter or the area they hunt? I'm curious to see what type of antelope I can legitimately expect to see/harvest. Thanks!

    draw statistics

LAST EDITED ON Nov-21-07 AT 01:18PM (MST)[p]Does any one know of a publication that lists the draw statistics for different units? I know each state usually has some of this info available but they normally aren't condensed very well and can be hard to figure out. I'm hoping there is something...

    wall tent price

Hi guys, I've got an opportunity to purchase a used 10x17 Montana canvas wall tent and I'm trying to find out if I'm getting a good deal. It doesn't have any rips, tears or holes. There is no frame with it. Is $500 a good price? Thanks.

    Bipod or shooting sticks

Thanks for the replies. Bipods sound good but I'll be getting a set of shooting sticks. I do other hunting with this gun where the bipod isn't necessary and the extra weight would be annoying.

    Bipod or shooting sticks

I'm looking at getting either a bipod or shooting sticks but I need some help deciding which is better. I will mainly be hunting breaks/badlands areas with a fair amount of trees. If I went with a bipod it would need to be detachable. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Doubler

Can a doubler be purchased for most/all brands of binoculars? I have a pair of Bushnells that I would like to get a doubler for if possible. Any websites or other help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Optics Questions

Could someone please explain what a 'doubler' is? Is it as simple as it sounds? Just an accessory that doubles the power of your binicular or spotting scope? Sorry for the ignorance, I'm more of a whitetail hunter who will be hunting muley's for the first time this fall so the whole optics...

    bow/rifle pouch

I was looking at the thread about binocular harnesses that had a link to crookedhorn.com. While looking through the site I saw that they have a pouch that attaches to your backpack so you can carry your bow or rifle on your back. Has anyone tried this? I'll add the link so you can see what...

    spotting scopes

I should probably have been more clear. I'm going to be hunting in the badlands (ND) this year for the first time and do not have a spotting scope. What would be a good, relatively inexpensive model to get? Also, would the compact style be a good option or should I stick with a normal size?
  33. P

    spotting scopes

I was looking at buying a more compact spotting scope but wasn't sure if the quality was as good as the larger ones. I'd like to get something that is a little lighter and easier to carry around but am not sure if I'd be sacrificing too much quality for a few less ounces. Anyone have any...

Thanks for the replies. I had most of the same concerns/thoughts that you guys had. A couple other concerns I have is that the suit might be pretty warm for hunting in the earlier parts of the season and also kind of heavy for walking any longer distances. I think I'm going to try and make...

    Hunt camp rules

'Making' people conform to your list of rules isn't what's important. What is important is hunting with people who already have the same list (morals, ethics etc.) that you do.
