    Summer fishing at Lake Hayden

There is some area shallow enough for top water in the east and north part of the lake. There will be largemouth there as well. You’ll need to get up early, real early that time of year to get into the best action. The time around 4th of July is the busiest of the year here as far as the lake...

    Summer fishing at Lake Hayden

Lots of smallmouth for shore fishing. In the shallower areas you will find largemouth, pike, sunfish and crappie. There are also trout and Kokanee but in the summer they are deep and they are rarely a shore fishing affair. I live within two miles of the lake and fish it for warm water and...

    Motel for unit 17

My son drew the 17 youth deer tag and I have been looking into lodging vs camping vs outfitter (new for us), and there are some rental options but it is a ways up to the top. We are coming from North Idaho. It is a big unit and as others have said depending on what area you want to focus on it...

    FCFS changes

I talked to them last week about some issues with my account and they said last year the avg time a tag spent on FCFS was 2 seconds and this year it was 8 seconds. It seems like it stays on though through auto refreshes but really isn’t there, not exactly sure. Between a me and a buddy we’ve...

    Nevada unit 10 moisture

That’s good news! It’s higher than I ever imagined hunting in NV and the Rubys seem pretty lush relatively speaking.

    Backpack rifle sling

Most of my barrels are long or have a suppressor on, and I also have the bottom pocket up pretty high so the muzzle is above my hat brim. I’ve heard that some don’t like the barrel out in front and theoretically able to swing toward the face. Chamber is empty and mine are high enough it’s...

    Nevada unit 10 moisture

My son (13) drew the muzzy tag for 101-109. We are doing a self guided/trespass hunt in 102 the first week. We’ve never hunted NV before and I actually drew the early 6 archery tag which I anticipate turning back due to time constraints and work. We both drew with 1bp which was a huge...

    Backpack rifle sling

I have been using the gun bearer for 8 years on multiple (non-kifaru) packs and I love it. Gun is stable and part of the pack. Depending on your pack, body height and rifle though it can sometimes take some tweaking to get it to ride right. The weight of the rifle is added to the pack and...

    Youth Hunting Opportunities

Agree with the above, just get the regular license. As an Idaho resident I do wish there were more youth only tags for kids to draw. There are no buck pronghorn rifle tags, few youth only antlered deer hunts and only a couple bull tags. Good luck in the draw.
