I have seen a few big deer stay high but from my experience most big deer stay just above the main big push... where there is good cover. They still have the instinct to migrate, but hunting pressure keeps them away from the masses.

If I were in your shoes I would continue to build points for a few years. The fawns born last year, in the severely impacted areas, will make some great bucks in 3-4 years imo. Numbers may not be great for that age class but there should be some really big bucks in 2027.

With my main big game rifles, I shoot them 50-100 rounds in the late summer/ early fall as season gets closer. The rest of the year I still shoot but with small calibers.

Never had the desire to hunt sheep. Never applied as a resident. No desire to hunt anything in Africa either so I wouldn't pay $500 for either one. I surely don't fault anyone who wants to though.

In Wyoming I love to sleep on the ground with a thin pad. In the Midwest, there are way more ground pests to worry about so I sleep in the bed of the pickup. I have an air mattress that fits the bed. It isn't perfect, but it works great for a night or two turkey hunting with my little guy.

That's rough. I actually released those two. I usually only keep them under 20". They are better to eat when they are smaller to me. I did weigh both before releasing, 5.2 and 7.5.
