Not sure which is bigger, but both were epics with the bow in Sept 10 years apart. Maybe some day again it will come together again. In the mean time dreams be rather goodins

If you happen to be left handed, Badass Archery in Sandy has great selection of bows to try. Definitely one of the most well stocked full service archery shops in Utah.

wow, forgot about this one. I was building my garage when this one came up and @Deckdudes place was a cool inspiration.
Finally have it somewhat getting there. Super fun seeing everyones rooms and trophies !!!
Cheers, Pete
How about it's just a system that will simplify the game for everyone. All tags all seasons all weapons are on the same point system. No more do you get to do both. You have to decide if your first choice is a gen hunt or a LE hunt. Then from there the second choices are much more random and...
I still don't understand this question. An angled spotter does everything better always, but you have to learn to find the spot you glassed with bino's which takes some time to sort.
Anyone who stands with a straight spotter is destined to be miserable most of the time. Shaky image and video...
what's 'pretty good actually' with any of that middlefork? the hunts not over, how the hey can they say you have to pay $50 to be able to apply next year when the seasons not even over?
Same crap I get every year with 200 phone calls and a dozen emails for my gen season elk and deer tags that...
Here's one I built myself. Designed, sorted and cut every board in the thing. All I can say is they are never big enough. Go to what ever size will fit in your lot and forget the rest as you'll never be able to do it again :)
Cheers, Pete
I'm still full in on the BFG KM3 mudders. I got 56k miles on mine and they were rode hard and put away wet for over 10k miles of dirt and rocks a year in there. Not one single flat in three years with them. They still had a bit of tread left.
They haven't been making the size KM3 that fit my...
Anyone actually ever sailed off into the sunset on a real sailboat as far a EBFNW ???
Seriously thinking of taking my elderly pops on a sailing trip around the carribean on a Jeanneau SO 379 and checking out of all this crazy points nightmare in the hunting world. One more hunt some day with my...
Not sure how anyone can support organizations who perpetuate the fallacy of more conservation, convention and land owner tags than the compete rest of the country combined as a win for herds that are declining in the face of all their supposed 'work'.
All the while we the 'average hunter' have...
I'm getting to the point at 62 where oldmanitis limits what I might want to shoot. I'm now down to a 60 lbs draw with lighter 390 grain arrow so I can keep sight tape flatter at around 285 fps. All my misses over the years have been due to misjudging distance in the heat of the moment. Range...
Anyone care to help me sort out how to try to buy a NR elk tag?
I've read about the cluster it can be, but I'd still like to try.
PM's would be great too
Cheers, Pete
Congrats on a great bull !!!
I know a bunch of very good hunters that got skunked this year on the mid season hunt and never saw a shooter.
cheers,
pete
I have been up in the uinta's a couple times on mtn goat hunts. Epic stuff !!!
I have links to a couple video's from a number of years ago, but pretty sure it's even better now if you want to see them.
I will say, the one thing I know is that big billys don't like it when you are directly...
I'd nearly rather walk 17 miles to a hunting spot than ride in the back of defender on a dusty or muddy road. For the life of me and after riding in a new one again this year, I don't under stand why anyone would spend one penny on one of those open cab things.
I have a tricked out F150 with...
There's a fourth one behind the bush to the left !!!
Young female in the front with three almost one year old's following my tracks down into a NoTellum canyon in Wyoming.
They are literally 500 yards from my camper and literally on my boot tracks following me. Cut back up to get a better...
Oh my, that’s a great buck !!!!
Very similar to one I was after but seems bigger. Tell the friend of a friend congrats on a true trophy I’d surely be proud of !!!
Cheers, Pete
Would love to see pics. Didn’t think anyone killed a ’good‘ buck out there last year? Sour grapes from my side of the realm, but love to share the stoke when someone else gets it done ?
cheers, pete
Wed and Thur last week I saw 13 bulls and only one was rubbed and bright white. The biggest one was a nice 7x7 and was still in full velvet.
Just my 0.02
Cheers, Pete
I'm guessing you have a tiny bit of d-loop interference going on.
Tie in a little thread nocking point on the string below the nock and above the lower nocking point.
It does two things. Keeps the lower nocking point from lifting the arrow at full draw and it puts your release dead in line...
I'll contest that the biggest difference is single weapon type hunts being the major game changer. Back in the day everyone toted a bow around in aug and sept just to be out in the field. Maybe 5% of the guys were serious bowhunters and really practiced their craft.
Now-a-days, it's at least...
There are only three things that can make a consistent tear. Your grip of the bow, string alignment to center of the grip and vane contact.
Start with making sure there's no contact from some sort of funky rest / vane contact.
Second is recheck to make sure you're not gripping the bow at all...
Sept 3rd is the best day of elk season IMHO. It is the magic day where all the bachelor groups break up and the bulls start yodelling for the cows, but haven't rounded them up yet.
Nothing like hunting love sick bulls when there aren't 30 to 50 cows around to blow you up every time...
Funny to see this here this morning. My neighbor came by last night and said he was friends with those guys and showed me one of their older videos on youtube. Sounds like they have tons of elk and slay up there !!!
Cheers, Pete
Flashgun congrats on your tag !!!
Your odds were actually 1 in 1800 with 6 points. On the random side you had your name in the hat for each point and one more for this year. You had 7 chances out of 12k something total names in the hat on that hunt this year.
If a guy drew with zero points...
I just picked up a new 22 PSE Carbon Levitate with the EC cams. It's kind of a crazy setup for me. The EC cam goes from 27.5 to something like 33" and I ran it at 27 1/2 to 28" and 60 lbs on a 70 lbs bow.
It goes against all my biases when it comes to bow setup. Normally I believed I would...
I'm still old school. Remember when a paper plate target was the secret sauce? If you could hit a tennis ball one out of three you were ready to go at what ever distance.
After 40 something years of slinging arrows, archery tournaments all over the world and even a world cup bronze medal once...
Just west desert west archery deer for me here, but I have both montana and wyoming elk tags this year so I'm busy anyway :)
Congrats to all who drew.
Cheers, Pete
I also heard yesterday from a guy that Soda lake had all the fish die off when it was super low last year. Be interested to hear if you got up that way and checked it out.
