Another old man looking to burn elk points in 2023

Disclaimer: I understand the risk one takes to post here anymore, but here goes... Summary: I have 15 elk points, I'm 64 and have serious health issues. I am looking for some suggestions for hunt units, archery or rifle, but preferably rifle. I can kill out to 800 yds but prefer inside 500 yds...

I'm not a good storyteller, but I can be a pretty good listener. Keep the stories coming. If they are bogus, I have a decent BS meter that has rarely failed me. I would like to come back from my unit 61 3rd season hunt this November with a few good stories.

    Henry Mountains Muzzy Hunt

This is a pic I took of my cousin's ML Henries deer from 2019. He drew with max points. Not sure of the official score, but it measured at ~227" gross. It was running with 2 other nice bucks, 180 - 190ish, certainly ML-worthy on the Henries. My uncle (right) took a nice velvet buck in 2003...

Got a PM with a "Region G Share" offer

I wasn't clear in my comment - my bad. What I meant was that combining points with someone besides my son AND then putting in for the Special draw on top in order to guarantee that we all draw would be a hassle I could avoid by simply putting in the Regular draw with my son...with 11.5 points...

Got a PM with a "Region G Share" offer

Thanks to everyone for your responses. At this point I am leaning toward just putting me and my son in together without the hassle of sharing outside and applying for the Special. Less complicated that way. That could change if someone comes to us with let's say 7 or 8 points and an offer too...

Burning Colorado Deer points this year?

Burning 17 - GMU 61 3rd season. Hunting buddy (Uncle) applying with 16. We know nothing about 61, but oh well. This is the plan, God willing. WY G 9/20- (burning 11 pts) ID OTC 10/10- (tag in hand) UT GEN 10/22- (burning daughter's 9 points, shared) CO 61 11/12- (applied w/ 17 pts)

Got a PM with a "Region G Share" offer

In a different thread I mentioned that I have 11 WY Deer points and my son has 12. We are about to put in together. We are burning points in WY and Colorado due to some personal health issues I won't go into here. So, I guess someone picked up on this 11 + 12 = 23 and that since 9 points in the...

NR Region G Points Needed for 2022?

Sounds good. Thanks, Paul. I was trying to see if a group of 3 with 12, 11 and 0 points would be able to pull it off. Looks like not. I think I'll just apply with 11 and have the others figure things out.

    Dear Utah

Gro We have plenty of LDS temples in Utah; hopefully a couple in Wyoming shouldn't cause too much distress. Wyoming also has a fantastic "trek" venue I've enjoyed going on a couple of times. Remember, we will not be in the mountains with a weapon/tag/pole in hand when we are at those venues...

    Antelope unit 100

Just received a response from Sweetwater and wanted to share with others here who may be interested. I was not able to find any HMA lands offered by Sweetwater/Orion, fyi. Hi Neil, I received your request below and wanted to provide a response. Entering onto private lands owned by Sweetwater...

    Antelope unit 100

Kemmerer City Hall responded and referred me to Lincoln County Land Records, which I had already verified had not been updated to reflect the change in ownership. No response (yet) from 1. Chris Baird, Game Warden for the Kemmerer area 2. Andy Countryman, Public Access Coordinator for the...

I looked all over, including the Lincoln County land ownership site. , emailed "City Hall" in Kemmerer... As others have said, the transaction was so recent that things don't show anything "Orion" - still "Union Pacific Land and Res Co" The Orion site shows various offices (NY, Australia...

Thanks for the info, guys. I really appreciate it!! HOWEVER, he didn't say anything about a change of ownership. It would be interesting...

    Antelope unit 100

Hi My son and I drew this tag for 2021. This will be our second antelope hunt. I also bought the archery option. I have a couple of days next week to do some scouting and was hopeful that I could get a few ideas of some roads to take - doesn't matter which side of the unit. I know I can't go...

We drew, but email process is off

Well, that must have why I didn't get the SUCCESS email(s). I suppose that the billing email for the conservation stamp goes out regardless of whether you checked an email box or not. Deer draw

Perfect! Somehow I had mistakenly marked my "hunt" calendar with June 11th as the "Colorado draw results" date. Hoping with 16 deer points (but lowered to group member's 14 points) will get us drawn in Colorado. But, if not, I'll have the time to decide whether to apply for a WY antelope tag...

Best way to sight in a rifle?

    Truckless Trailers

I scouted a little later in July when I was there 2 years ago. I think I saw 15 or 20 at the most. I came in from the north end and I did scout quite a few drainages - down to about north crow creek or thereabouts then turning around. I know there are always quite a few squatters toward the...

    Truck Down

"Totaling" it is kinda worrisome, since 1) I won't be able to find another truck as well kept as mine (my one and only truck ever) - original owner, 158K miles, 100% garaged, 8 brand new injectors, and 2) it doesn't make sense to jump into a newer, more expensive truck at this point in my life -...
