    Carrying your bow

Hunting with a friend, I noticed he carried his behind his neck, somewhat resting on his pack. I tried it, with stabilizer facing forward, and worked great. So depending on how it balances, that's another option. I do occasionally carry it by the string or handle in rougher terrain, but for...

    Best 1X scope

I had a TC Hunter Hawkin 1x scope and sold it dirt cheap just to get rid of it and it was actually a decent scope. I never realized a 1x scope makes things smaller than the naked eye sees. I used a peep and liked it WAY better than a 1x scope. Just my 2 cents!

    Colorado Governor’s Tag Buck

I heard one of the guides posted it on his FB page but I've no idea who. I have photos that were texted to me however I don't feel its appropriate for me to post someone else's stuff without permission. Guessing it will show up soon somewhere and if I see it, I can help direct.

    Colorado Governor’s Tag Buck

FYI, Another Gov. tag buck hits the dirt.....er snow this morning (30th). Not sure if it's posted anywhere but I've seen the photos with Gypsum Creek Outfitters and Hill Guides and Outfitters logo on them. I'd rather let them post them if they choose to do so.

    Colorado Governor’s Tag Buck

Here he is in velvet. A friend in the area said they'd seen him this summer and had photos as well. He also said there's a similar one running around this year as well as several other really good bucks they've seen.

    Muzzy Observations

Central Mountains/East of the Continental Divide - A few bugles very early and very late the 1st 2 days then almost none. Lots of rain didn't make it any easier with a muzzy. Catching Covid right at the start of the hunt probably was the worst for me but I still went out and hiked many miles...

    KNIGHT ULTRA LITE QUESTIONS

If you are on Rokslide, I'd highly recommend checking with "Sabotloader" as he's extremely knowledgeable with Knights and has an Ultra Lite. Not sure he shoots 209 but he's a Knight expert and I believe he has worked directly with Knight on some issues.

    Bullet tumble???

Thanks for the offer but I have several other bigger Whites as well. Not sure there's any 600 gr. in there. A few of the Whites I bought over the years were sold with White bullets so I have a big variety. Might have to try some of the bigger ones at the range sometime but I've kinda settled...

    Bullet tumble???

Barrel twist is 1 in 24 and many people shoot and recommend this size bullet for this gun.

    Bullet tumble???

I"ve not used a wad. Main reason I used 95 gr. is that a well know muzzy shooter uses that with the same gun. I do plan to go down to either 85 or 90. The bullets are lubed but to be honest, the lube is a bit old so adding a bit more probably wouldn't hurt. I also will try adding a wad. My...

    Bullet tumble???

The weird part is that the first several shots were fine, then 2 tumbled so I stopped shooting. I've read that a loose fit could cause tumbling and they all loaded similarly but relatively easy. I felt minimal resistance when pushing the ramrod but that was true for all the bullets.

    Bullet tumble???

So I shot my White Ultra Mag today, shooting some Bullshops 460 gr. with 95 gr. Pyrodex P. Shot at 50 and 100 and things looked OK. So I tried some of the White Power Punch 460 gr. conicals and they shot OK as well, but not as good a group as the Bullshops. So I decided to shoot my Super 91...

    Secondary draw: you in?

I've had friends that thought they should put in, thinking they had a chance for a good tag as they didn't read the rules either.....just too busy and trusting the CPW to have a "fair" system. I just think when they should call it what it is and if they give youth 4 choices, just make it a...

    Colorado Results Email

Just to understand the system, under "My Pref. pts.", for Elk mine says "import deduct points - # of pts I had" and it shows I have zero pts. Not sure if that just means they applied my points to the draw, or it actually used my points. It it used my pts. then I drew 1st choice. I didn't...

    Reissue 2023

I believe they have regulatory limits on when and by how much they can raise prices. That said, I agree that cutting a season in half will likely do little to the harvest. As always, it seems anything that will reduce their budget will not be a serious consideration so they seem to propose...

It's the only area in the State I know of that is a limited draw (4 GMU's) because the elk numbers are dramatically below objective.

    CPW Preference Point Banking Survey

Here's my guess, If a unit has 15 tags, they'd take the top 15 applicants, then the applicant with the lowest points becomes the baseline for which they'd take that many points from everyone plus whatever penalty points is established.

    CPW Preference Point Banking Survey

They do....sort of. It's called the hybrid draw where you can draw a top tier unit. If you have 5 pts. or more you can apply for those specific units. Must be your 1st choice.

Cutting tags 40% in northwest Colorado…

    CPW Preference Point Banking Survey

Once a system is in place, most people (myself included) seem to like or dislike it based on the impact to them. Whereas I think the question should be asked if it's "fair" to change it. As the saying goes, Life is not fair! so if point banking changes, it's not gonna be fair to either higher...

    CPW Preference Point Banking Survey

Totally agree. Once you have a system, changing things will always effect some groups adversely while benefitting others. I'm in the lower point group now and could add several years to draw relatively low point tags if this gets approved.
