    Antelope in 81??

If you're truly looking for a fun hunt with kids, 81 would be tough to beat. Lots of antelope on public and more as season progresses. There are some nice bucks, but you would need to sort through lots and lots and lots of bucks to find a truly big one.

    Missouri Breaks Deer

Ha! Great stories! Having spent a ton of time in the Breaks, both of those stories are unique. Not ones that I would spend money on anticipating them happening again. But......you never know.

SE montana Mule Deer- population levels?

Horrible winter in SE Montana. Worse with each April snowstorm. Enjoy a combat hunt with a thousand other people for a genetically superior 2.5 year old deer.

    Castles

Predators are a non factor in the Castles. An occasional wolf pack will move through, but populations are way over objective. Most elk are on private in archery and rifle. Bide your time near the boundary and you will have encounters. Small bulls likely. Occasional big bull, but would not...

    171-173 Archery Versus 161-164 Archery Habitat/Draw Odds

Does any one have insight as to why the archery draw odds are significantly better for 171-173 than 161-164? The high elevation habitat looks very similar and both units are comprised of linear basin and range mountains. Rifle tag numbers are similar. Based on Google Earth, 171-173 actually...

    510-50 Pryor Mountains Montana

Hunt near irrigated agriculture and you'll find some deer. Don't expect to see many deer or deer older than 2.5 years old. Enjoy it for what it is, and you'll have a fun time. Hope your friend gets into hunting, and thanks for his military service.

    Mature Deer Tactic Discussion

    >Early season "glass more" just doesn't >work as they bury themselves >in brush so thick they >generally jump at under ten >yards in their preferred habitat. > Only an eagle could >spot them curled up in >their hidey hole. Squirrel, your last thought actually hit the genesis of my...

    Mature Deer Tactic Discussion

Good point, littlebighorn. Unfortunately, giant deer are killed every year out the window of a pickup. As they say, it's better to be lucky than good. Do you think the buck in your story was still with younger deer, using them to tip him off without being seen? Or, do you think he changed...

    Mature Deer Tactic Discussion

Thanks for the feedback thus far, guys. And, great story, groundhog999. Your story really shows how unique an individual buck can be. Every deer and every scenario is different, which is what makes it so fun. So, I agree with all the posts thus far. And, I admit I have a bias to being less...

    Mature Deer Tactic Discussion

The purpose of this question is to hear the perspective of mature mule deer hunters out there, and it's offered with the acknowledgement that there is no right answer. What do folks think is the best tactic for hunting a pressured mature mule deer? Let me provide some context to the question...
