In my opinion, those Moose tags should go to disabled veterans. If an outfitter would donate the moose hunt to a disabled veteran, I would be in favor of that. To offer a free hunt to a general public hunter with no strings attached seems questionable.

Probably because when they did their postseason surveys in the fields, there was one buck over there target buck/doe ratio. They figured they needed to increase tags to bring that ratio down a little.

Wow! 44 inches of mass on a 27 inch wide buck that breaks 200. Amazing. Is he a typical 4 x 4? I’d love to see a pic of that one. Can’t recall seeing it before.

Agreed It’s all about apply apply apply. Look at the huge number of new applicants in the last three years since this campaign began. Thousands and thousands of new applicants that aren’t really serious hunters. It’s obvious when you look at the draw odds stats.

I hope JakeH is right and they adjust down on those general season tag proposals. That’s almost doubling the tags on some units. Seems excessive to me in just one year but who am I to say.

Nice Bulls! They should be pretty big ones by now if they’re still alive. Southern Idaho has lots of moose. Not surprising they’ve moved down into Nevada.

I mean look at the cover of the application booklet. That Bull has fronts with seven points on the left and five on the right. Wow is that even real? I’d like to know where that Bull is at.

You probably could find a moose to shoot if you put in enough effort. But the odds to draw are going to be astronomical. Especially with all the hype it’s getting.

I would rate the terrain in 551 as Relatively easy. When I hunted it fourth season, most of the deer were in the middle elevation range, with Aspen and evergreens mixed in partly open hillsides. An ATV or a smaller four-wheel-drive like a Toyota or Jeep would be great. I didn’t see any Elk.

Good bucks are really rare these days no matter where you go. I have seen a couple decent ones lately that are narrow and tall with good mass that I like the looks of.
