Sometimes that can be your key, find them in the farmers fields and get up behind the fields before daylight and wait for them to come out. Reynolds creek is a good one for that.

You shouldn't have any problems at all. I personally either hunted the west side the of the unit or the east side. Study your maps & onXhunt and you should be fine. Unit 40 if my favorite unit. Seen some dandy's for sure

I hunt alone, be bad enough trying to get a 200” buck out by myself. No way trying for elk. But a coworker’s daughter got a dandy down in 41/42 last year

I'm sure many if not most resident Idaho sportsman & sportswomen would be ok with tag & license cost being raised. I know I would. IDF&G just needs to do their part in rebuilding our mule deer herds, otherwise why waste the money.

I have yet to hear a hunter from a state that has a points system say its a good thing. Let the NR tags go to a points system. But the reality of it is the governor appoints the director of IDF&G and he or she is going to do what ever they dam well please, they have proven in the past they...

I see this is back in the news again. I don't think it will happen, but I've been wrong before.

I called the Local's only batline and got right there, the first thing the operator ask me was if I had updated my car's extended warranty...lol. All kidding aside, my wife works at cabelas and she said it was nuts there today.

I heard and saw only one really big buck shot so far. Been an interesting year so far.

I was up on Cow Creek and Trout Creek on Saturday and was surprised at how few deer I seen. Saw one small buck with 4 does. I know the unit holds some booners, hopefully I will draw the tag one more time in my lifetime, if I do I know right where to be. Sorry your hunters struck out El Gringo.

The only deer we seen were down in the farmers fields. When I had the tag I really didn't hunt that area, I had found other spots that held some nice bucks. Animals can appear and disappear very quickly, its a large area. Maybe one day I will draw that tag again.

Unit 40 is a gem. Was up in Reynolds’s creek today doing some scouting with friend who has a cow tag. Had the November deer tag back in 2017. Learned a lot.

Saw a long black female wolf in unit 40 several years ago. So ya they are pretty much everywhere now.

Lots and lots of private in unit 45. Drew the bull tag a couple years ago and didn't see a single elk. We drove out roads I swear I seen wagon wheels laying along side the road.....very rough. I know there are elk and big bucks there.

Here's a classic example. A few years back a farmer in unit 45 was paid over a million bucks because the elk damaged his hop crop. What should have happened was, you don't get the money until you let X number of hunters on your property to harvest these elk. But NO.

It always seems that the biggest share of non resident hunters refer to Idaho as their fall back state. But am not sure how that is now that the non resident tags sell out so soon. All I know from what I've heard from all the hunters in states with points systems, they hate them and complain...

So who has the ultimate say in if Idaho gets a points system?? There is a new candidate running for Idaho Governor. She said on her TikTok account page if appointed she would look into a points system. Is it solely the Governor or the Fish and Game or would it go before the voters??

The problem here is there are more pups born each year then are taken by hunters & trappers. The wolf population continues to grow.
