    Wyoming Ram

Thought I’d revisit this Wyoming ram from a few years ago, which won the Cort Feeley award that year. I’ll let you know what the pronghorn scores after the 60-day drying period. Happy hunting. HT

    Red Desert Pronghorn 80”+

I got lucky today and found the pronghorn scouted yesterday. He has the biggest body I ever seen on a pronghorn. I field taped him at 15-1/2” length, 6-1/2” prongs, 6-1/2” bases and circumstances of 6-1/2”, 4”, 3”, for a gross of 84”. I’m sure his official score will be less, but I’m confident...

    85”+ Pronghorn

I have two 85”+ pronghorn. The one on the wall is 16-1/2” each side, while the pedestal buck is 17-1/2” each side (though the non-typical double-prong on his left horn drops his net score to 83-5/8”). I’m looking for another one. Anyone see an 85”+ pronghorn in Wyoming this season?

    Antelope Unit 64

I was in the area, so spent a half-day scouting Unit 64. Saw 250 or so antelope, including about 40 fawns. There were a few nice bucks in the mid-70s, but nothing near the 80 mark. Also saw a few sage grouse. Large sections appear vacant… but at least some antelope remain in the unit. There were...

    Unit 35/36 Deer Migration

I saw a nice buck this past July in Unit 35/36 at 10,500 ft. Given the weather experienced to date, and the forecast over the next two weeks, would that deer typically remain at that elevation through the start of the 2nd season on Oct. 20th? When would the deer in that area begin seeking lower...

    Unit 19 Sheep Success

I was fortunate to connect on a 175 pt. Bighorn late on opening day in Unit 19. My son from NYC was there when I made a nifty one-shot kill on the running ram. We had been chasing a 180+ pt. ram most of the day, but he gave us the slip by crossing onto private land. I decided to take what the...

President Obama... end this discrimination now

Okay. This does it. I have asked President Obama and every Senator I can locate to move immediately to end any USE on Federal public land that discriminates against any American citizen. If certain USES, such as camping and bird-watching, do not involve discrimination, then those USES should...

    Grand Canyon Rams

A group of friends and I took a float trip through the Grand Canyon in August, 2012. It was hot. I had hoped to see any Desert Bighorns, but ended up spotting over two dozen, including these rams that walked right through our camp. We also saw some California Condors. The rafting guides...

    17" Texas Goat

I was fortunate this year and drew a pronghorn tag on the Rita Blanca National Grassland hunt in the northwest Panhandle of Texas. Wyoming Bighorn Stats - 2007

Wyoming has posted its Preference Point Totals going into the 2007 draw for Moose, Sheep, Antelope, Deer and Elk. The information for Sheep appears, at first glance, to be surprising. The number of Sportspersons (NR) with PP going into the 2007 draw is 10,248, only 508 fewer than the 10,756...

    Utah Bighorn Hunter-Opportunity Allotment

Utah has issued 51 bighorn permits (15 RMB/36 DB), with only 3 (about 6%) going to non-residents. Of these 3, 1 was drawn by an Arizona hunter, while another was drawn from Nevada. Don't these guys from Arizona and Nevada know that they should only "hunt in their own d*** states"? A...
