    Archery non resi tag sale

Looks like they are all bought out. I know somebody that purchased on at 12:01am Thursday morning and there had already been 1,000 tags processed when he purchased his permit. I didn't hear of any complaints with the processing so I'm assuming all went smooth.

How'd your hunt go? I haven't ever hunted the muzzeloader elk hunt so didn't have any advice to give. Bummer nobody else chimed in.

Great buck. Congrats on the kill! Even more impressive it was with a bow. Good job.

    Lighted Nocks

These are what I am going to try first. I should get them by Friday and will be shooting them next weekend.

    Lighted Nocks

I definitely will. The videos I’ve seen, they look pretty cool to shoot.

    Lighted Nocks

Thanks for the info. I am going to pick up a couple different brands and see what I like best.

    Lighted Nocks

For those of you who shoot lighted nocks, is there a preference you have found that you like one brand over the other? Is there a noticeable drop at longer distance (50+ yards)? I am thinking on switching to a lighted nock for hunting this season but was just curious what some you have...

    Deer Hunts Starting 11/4…

Anybody else have a hunt starting this Friday? I have one in 43/44AB. Finally, we will have some good weather for the desert. Still seeing some bucks with velvet which is not uncommon but most are usually hard horned by now. I’ll share a few I’ve seen recently. Can’t wait to get out there.

    Mule Deer Buck

This is in the southwest portion of Arizona. The deer in Kaibab/Strip and mountains tend to be a little ahead of the desert bucks. Our deer will usually start stripping velvet October 15-Early November.

    Mule Deer Buck

Got a cool photo of an Arizona mule deer buck bedded down, still in full velvet. Should be stripping it any day.

    Archery Kills and Quotas...

I don't understand that logic. The people shooting spikes likely are never going to have a chance at a mature buck. Sure, there are some big bucks that will be along a road but the majority of mature bucks take some effort to hunt. The spikes and forkies being shot this last weekend in Unit 1...

    Archery Kills and Quotas...

Unit 1 has reach it's quota. I wish they would make it so it has to be a forkie or bigger that is legal to shoot. There were so many spikes posted on social media this weekend. It's great people are out hunting but sucks to see how many spikes get killed.

    Archery Kills and Quotas...

https://harvest-tracking.azgfd.gov/harvest-tracking-3-2/ Looks like the kills are already piling up pretty quick. Curious to see how long it takes for some of these units to close due to reached quotas.

    Card hits

I got my usual unit. Started putting in when I was 14 and got my first buck at 16. After so many years of getting your butt kicked in the desert you start to learn how to hunt these desert mulies a little bit.

    New Hunt Success???

Has anybody seen or heard if any of the lucky 6 hunters that drew that special season tag has filled their tag? I would expect some nice bucks to be taken with a rifle during the rut.

    Deer points

Life changes so fast. If you have a chance to draw and hunt, go hunt. Your next day of life is not promised. Neither is shooting a 200" buck. Go enjoy yourself and hunt while you can. Even better if you can enjoy it with loved ones. Good luck!

    Rutting yet

They are rutting in the desert already so the north should be wide open.
  26. YumaOutdoorsman

    How wide?

There isn’t a tree behind him, that’s a 2nd beam. The tree in the background on the left was like 10-15 yards behind where he was standing. Thanks all for the opinions. I don’t think he’s a giant or nothing, just a cool looking buck. I would be happy to wrap my tag around him any day.

    How wide?

Oops was not the four letter word I used ????
  28. YumaOutdoorsman

    How wide?

If you had to guess, how wide do you think this buck is? This was from January in Arizona. I took “the shot” with my camera instead of my bow because when I first saw him, he had the sun behind him and he didn’t look big. This photo is from 104 yards away. I did not know he was a double main...

    Cool Bighorn

I got a cool photo on my trail camera a while back of an old ram. The colored photo is the actual photo but I used a filter to make it black and white and I think it looks cool. I shared them in the Sheep, goats etc forum but forgot to share them here.

AGFD -- Trail Camera Ban For Taking Wildlife effective Jan. 1

I know a lot of people that are going to continue to use them. There is a gray area that many are willing to play with. I don't want to risk losing hunting rights so I am going to be done with cameras for Arizona unless the law changes, which I don't see happening. I am going to miss using them...

    AGFD -- Special Season Apps

I think you could've proceeded without entering the correct ID. I had a friend who was about to just use his social for the Customer ID but I told him to read the fine print and it said to make sure all information is correct before going forward or your application will be rejected. I'm hoping...

    Antler Shot Off?

I went and picked up my camera yesterday. I had this buck on camera and he already had a messed up rack but now he’s missing his fork on his right side. Does it look like his antler was shot off with a rifle to you? A little early to be prerutting I would think. Curious on your thoughts.

    Crane Hunts

Just a general question. How come they only do the crane hunts in one portion of the state? I live like an hour from Cibola wildlife refuge and they’ve got thousands of them. We also get some here in Yuma that trickle down the Colorado river. I never put in because I do not want to drive that...

AGFD -- New Big Game Hunting Opportunities

They don't care about the odds. They care about the money and this will generate a ton. Especially when the hunters that draw have zero loss of bonus points and it does not count against their annual bag limit. I'm guessing a lot of hunters will apply for all 6 hunts which is $78 per person...

    Unit 46A/B Hunt

Did anybody hear how this hunt went? I heard a local Yuman shot a nice buck and had some whoppers on camera but I have not seen anything else or heard anything else from other tag holders. Does anybody know? Thanks.
