The closest place to Dotsero would probably be heading up Deep Creek. I think the road is called Coffee Pot. There should be a place to park a camper somewhere along that road on the forest.

The snotel site for Sand Lake is showing 31" of snow as of today, guys are snowmobiling already up there. I don't know how far up Sand Lake road you can get, but I bet it isn't too far. I think its safe to say the elk have moved down from up there.
